Dylan's POV

"Shit, I forgot my keys."

"Really Dylan?" She asked fishing around her bag looking for her copy and handing it to me.

"Dad!?" I screamed when I had opened the front door, "I'll be in my room!"

My dad walked out the kitchen as we were heading up the stairs. "Hey Dylan, how was your.... Pumpkin!" He exclaimed when he spotted Alexis. He'd been calling her that since she was eight. It was probably because he'd always wanted a daughter but never had one.

"Hey grandpa!" She smiled running down the stairs to give him a kiss. She'd been calling him grandpa since she was nine. My dad smiled and pinched her cheeks.

"How are you doing?" He asked smiling at her. I stood at the top of the stairs taking it all in. My dad was rarely happy these days. Don't get me wrong, he wasn’t a miserable person or anything, it’s just that he wasn't always like this. There was once a time when he dad's face always had a smile, always. When people asked him why he didn't smile much anymore he's always said "My reason for smiling is gone."

That was because my mother and little brother had died in a car accident just little over fourteen months ago and the wound was still very fresh with both of us. My dad tried being strong for me but there were many nights when I'd hear him crying in his room and it just tore me apart. That's why I started sleeping at Alexis' house so often. Or, if I was at home I tried having her with me because she'd always make him happy. It's not that I was avoiding my Dad or anything; I just didn't know how to help him because I hadn't even figured out how to help myself.

"I hope Dylan is behaving himself." I heard my dad say.

"I hope so too." Alexis looked up at me and gave next an evil grin. I was confused until she spoke again. "You know, this morning, my mom caught his masturbating in my shower."

"Your mother didn't catch me masturbating in your shower! She suggested that was what I was doing." My dad started laughing at me then he shook his head.

"Just don't get blind Dylan."

"Alex, I'm going to kill you." I said then turned around and headed into my room.

A few minutes Alex entered my room and shut the door. "Your dad talked me into staying the night. What do you wanna do?"

"I want to kill you." She laughed, dropped her bag on the floor and hopped on my bed.

"Dylan, relax it was a joke. Even your dad got it. Didn't you see him laughing?" I changed out of my clothes and sat next to her.

"How about some movies? I rented That Awkward Moment."

"Perfect! Zac Efron is a babe."

"Alex, Efron has nothing on me."

"He's famous, he has muscles, he’s a real sex God, unlike you and he's famous so yeah, he's got everything on you." I got up and popped in the movie before hitting play she got up and made her way to the door.

"Where are you going?"

"For junk food."

"You are so efficient." I laughed.

She shrugged, "I know."  She came back with a bowl of popcorn and a bowl of chips. I took one of the bowls from her and clicked play. Ten minutes into the movie my phone rang and I looked down at the caller's ID but no name was there.

"Hello?"

"Is this Dylan?" That voice sounded so much like Ashley.

"Yeah, it is. Who's this?"
