Two days ago we started the Blind Banker case. Sherlock and John had done lots of research into it. We had discovered what the code was, an ancient Chinese number system but needed to find the book it was based on. Sherlock and John went through every book Lukis and Van Coon had in search for an answer to the cypher.
Sherlock asked if I could come to the circus with him, John and John's date. It is Chinese and here for one night only so probably relates to the case.
I get dressed then Daddy takes me in the car to 221B. When we arrive Daddy opens the door for me to get out. "Don't cause to much trouble" he tells me "I won't" reply going up to the door. I knock and Mrs Hudson tells me to go up.
"Hello Sherlock" I greet. "Right turn around we are going now need to catch up to John" Sherlock and I go down stairs "off already?" Mrs Hudson asks "Be back in a few hours" Sherlock gets out and hails a taxi.
When we arrive at the circus, which looks not like a circus at all but definitely Chinese styled, we go up some stairs to the ticket booth.
"Hi I have two tickets reserved for tonight" I here John saying. "What's the name?" A man asks "Holmes" John replies "Umm actually I have four in that name" the man states. "No I don't think so I only booked two" John seems confused how amusing.
"Then I phoned back and got tickets for Annabelle and I" Sherlock smiles. "I'm Sherlock, and this is Annabelle" Sherlock puts his hand out. "Hi" John's date seems hesitant to shake his hand. "Hello" Sherlock replied then walked off and I followed him. A few minutes later John comes to us. "You couldn't just let me have one night off!" John seems annoyed "Yellow dragon circus in London for one day it fits! The tong sent an assassin to London." Sherlock is excited at the thought of it being linked to the case. "Dressed as a tight rope walker, come on Sherlock. Behave!" John is definitely annoyed. "We're looking for a killer who can climb and shin up a rope. Where else would you find that level of dexterity?" Sherlock seems a little annoyed at John for not understanding and it is a little awkward watching them however it is funny. "Exit Visas are scares in China you'd need a pretty good reason to leave" I state helping Sherlock out."I need to look round quickly" Sherlock explains "Right you can do that I'm going to take Sara for a pint" John is more than annoyed I feel a little bad. "I need you" Uncle Sherlock begs him to stay. "I have got other things in mind for tonight" John states "Like what?" Sherlock does not understand he is on a date. "You must be kidding, I'm in the middle of a date, I'm not going to go round trying to catch some killer when..." John explains "What?" Sherlock asks genuinely confused "like trying to hit it off with Sarah" at that very moment in time Sarah came up behind him, I hope she didn't here, doesn't seem like she did that was awkward for John.
"Hey... you ready" John asks Sarah "yeah" Sarah replies. We go and find a space. "Sherlock you said circus this is not a circus, look at the size of this crowd" John exclaims. "This is not their day job" Sherlock reminds John "sorry I forgot their a gang of international smugglers" John says sarcastically "yeah, they are" I laugh. John shoots me an annoyed look.
It starts. A women walks into the stage and raises a hand in order to stop the drum beat. She walks across to the far side of the stage uncovering a cloaked object that turns out to be a cross bow like device.
She sets a feathered arrow onto a cross bow. "I can't see" I whisper to Sherlock. He picks me up and places me on his hip. The women then takes a feather from her head piece and places it in a bowl the arrow is then released and hits a board.
The audience gasp and then clap.
After that a masked man walks into the centre of the stage. Two other men chain him up to the board.
"Classic Chinese escapology act" Sherlock tells John "Hmm?" John doesn't understand "the crossbow is on a delicate string the warrior has to escape his binds before it fires.
The warrior grunts trying to get free the steady drum beat quickens. A crash symbol goes off making Sarah jump.
The women then picks up a dagger. "She splits the sand bag the sand pours out and the weight lowers into the bowl" Sherlock continue to explain. The woman pierces the sandbag and lets sand pour out lowering a weight into the bowl which will set off the arrow.
The warrior grunts furiously trying to escape his bonds.
"I'll be back don't move" Sherlock places me on the floor. "Ok" I whisper.
Tension is building and it's rather dramatic.
The warrior finally breaks one hand free and soon the other. He tries to unlocks him self he does so just in time and ducks before the arrow hits him. The audience erupt into clapping.
Thank God!" Sarah exclaims "My God" John seems shocked. John looks behind him expecting to see Sherlock but he's not there. John gives me a questioning look and I just shrug.
Momentarily the Chinese women speaks "Ladies and Gentlemen from the Yangtze River I present, for your pleasure: the dead fly Chinese Bird Spider" a man on silks drips from above John and Sara are both amazed they watch with their mouths open which is funny if you ask me. The performer continues to show his skills on the silks. I see a rustling in the curtains and momentarily Sherlock is launched out "Oh dear" I think aloud. He fights with a warrior at this point most people are very confused and shocked. John tries to help Sherlock but fails then Sarah goes to help. I debate helping but in the end decide against it, to be honest I can't be bothered right now. Sarah seems to do the job just fine.
"Come one lets go" Sherlock scoops me up and we run out of the circus. "Did you see it?" Sherlock asks me "See what?" I ask "the mark, it was the mark of the tong just like on Van Coon and Lukis" Sherlock explains. "Why don't we go to Scotland Yard and try get Dimmok to believe us now" John says.
Sherlock hails a cab and we all manage to squeeze in.
When we arrive at Scotland Yard Sherlock makes me sit outside Dimmok's office as to not cause any trouble. Sadly, I was in the mood to annoy Dimmok but I listened to Sherlock as not to annoy Daddy.
They finish quickly and we head back to 221B Baker Street.
