Always telling me to be nice, cool
Like I can choose who I should be
It's not easy to be the one you need
You have some criteria I must fulfill,
A list of things I should never feel,
The golden package of rules to follow
Without a moment to chill and mellow
Remember we are what you make us be
We are indeed what you let us breathe
Yes, we are what you allow us to see
But we can't be what we never lived
What did you do for us, even for me
Besides embracing this old gray city
Tell me, I wanna know, speak it out
Or thinking about it your words dry out
The essential things you keep providing
Are never going to make us running
We need more, I need more from you
So don't keep asking for success clues
How can I ever succeed collecting alms
I'm not even allowed to use my charms
I can't work hard and scratch my arms
The only benefit is to keep you calm
Understand me just this one time
It shouldn't even be this hard to discuss
The beauty of tolerance is sublime
I'm begging, please don't drive me nuts
It's actually you who must keep fighting
To accomplish your precious dreams
And leave me alone to keep discovering
Who I really want tomorrow to be
I truly love you more than I can tell
But I hate it when you're being unfair
You're suffocating, don't let me breathe
All I'm asking is for you to let me be!
