-Harry-
I walked into the coffee shop and looked around for my so-called "protector."
I scanned my eyes through the crowded cafe but I didn't see anyone that looked like a protector. Then again, I don't really know what a protector is supposed to look like.
"Harry," I hear a whisper coming from behind me.
I turned around to find a figure sitting in the shadows of the cafe. The table was in the very far corner. As I approached the table, I saw a middle- aged woman with red hair and pale skin. I guess she was my protector.
"Uh hello," I nervously stammered as I sat down in the seat across from her, "So are you like my protector?
"Indeed I am,"she replied,"My name is Angela."
"So are you like gonna tell me how to break this curse... or..."
"Yes I will. But it's a little more complicated that you would think."she said.
"I don't care what I have to do. I just want to get rid of this damn curse." I replied.
"I have been looking over and protecting you, for your whole life, making sure nothing happened to you,"she started.
"Protecting me?" I almost laughed, "I've had a shit life and your here to tell me that you have been protecting me?"
"I have been protecting you. If I hadn't, Dimitri would of destroyed you years ago. He's managed to destroy everything around you, but hasn't yet destroyed you."
"Who's Dimitri?" I asked.
"The man who cursed you at birth." she replied.
So he is Dimitri. I hadn't known his name until now. She started explaining all kinds of stuff about time and all my ancestors and curses. Apparently the reason I had been cursed, was because of my ancestors from forever ago. She said I was related to King Henry VII of England. Does that mean I'm like royalty? Bow down peasants.
"During the last year of Henry's reign, he became very paranoid. Every time someone would even speak to him, he would assume that they were traitors to the country of England. If you were to ask me why, I would not know the answer. He was just old and paranoid."
"So how does his paranoia have to do with me being cursed?" I questioned.
"I was getting to that," she said,"Dimitri worked as a servant in the castle. One day he asked Henry a question, and Henry being his paranoid self, assumed that Dimitri was a traitor. He had Dimitri beheaded. Dimitri didn't die though. His soul still lived. But not as an angel, as a demon. He wanted to get revenge on Henry, so he vowed to curse his family. But he didn't curse everyone, just you."
Great going Henry.
"This makes no sense," I muttered,"How could some man's soul live for 200 years and haunt me, out of all of my other relatives and an ancestors?"
"He jumped around from body to body for 200 years. He would travel around, find someone, and possess their body. But there's a catch. If the body he is possessing, dies while he is still in it, then he dies with it. That is how we are going to break the curse. When his soul is gone, the curse is gone."
"So your saying we get to kill someone?" I asked.
"Well not necessarily. Dimitri can possess any living creature. So we need to figure out how go get him into a plant or insect." she said.
"How are we going to do that?"
"I'm not quite sure, but it's all going to have to happen within the next week."
"Why?" I asked.
"Well your 20th birthday is the week after, and he will be too powerful. Every 10 years of your life he gains power and terrible things happen. I don't really know how. Our best bet would have to be this week."
"If you say so," I sighed.
We began to make a plan. It was going to happen on Friday, right outside of campus. She would somehow lure Dimitri to where I would be and we would go from there.
I was really hoping I would get to kill Louis, but I guess some flower or bug would have to do.
-Grace-
Harry knocked on my door at 9:30.
"What happened?" I eagerly asked as I closed the door behind him.
He sat down on my bed and began to tell me the story.
-
"Wow," was all I could say when he finished talking.
"Yea I know," he said,"If Friday goes as planned, then I'll finally be curse free."
"Is there anything I can do to help?" I asked.
"I don't think so. I think it would be best if you stayed here on Friday. I know I keep saying this, but I just want to protect you."
"Alright," I sighed.
We walked over to the couch and I turned on the tv. We sat in silence until I remembered something.
"There's a New Years Eve ball coming up and I think it would be fun if we went," I blurted out.
"That's not really my type of thing," he replied without taking his eyes off of the screen.
"Please?" I begged, "It could be so fun. It's really formal and we could get all dressed up and it would be so amazing!"
"I don't really think it's a good idea," he sounded uneasy.
"Why not?" that's when I remembered that New Years Eve was his birthday,"Wait never mind that's your birthday!"
"It's fine. If you want to go, then we can go." he said.
"No it's alright. We can go out or something."
"We can go if you want,"he replied.
"You can decide. But let me know by next week so I can coordinate our outfits," I've always loved planning and organizing things.
"Okay," he smiled.
If he can break the curse, then bad things won't happen on his birthday.I just hope that Friday goes well. If anything happened to him, I don't know what I would do.
I looked over and Harry had fallen asleep. He must be tired from all of this curse mess. I covered him with a blanket and walked over to lay down in my bed. I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow but my dreams were clouded with horrifying images of demons.
