Chapter Seven: The Feast and The Victor

That night, right as I am about to fall asleep, I hear an announcement 

"Attention Tributes, I would like to invite you to a feast. Some of you may already be declining my offer, but at the feast, you will each have a backpack with something you need desperately! And we plan to be very...generous hosts."

At first I can't think of what I would need desperately, but after a while, it’s clear to me. I get out of the tree and head for the cornucopia and wait for morning. 

I wake up hearing a large table rise, I get ready when I see my bag, but I get distracted when I see running. Foxface burst from the cornucopia, took her backpack, and ran into the woods. I need to be next, so nobody takes the thing I need desperately. I run out of the woods towards the cornucopia, snatch my bag, and try to run back, but I get attacked by Cloves knife. I fall down, and she tackles me. I feel a blade on the previously broken part of my nose, then nothing. I see Thresh lifted her up off of me, slams her down, and smashes her skull in with a rock. Then he turns to me 

"You sing soft Kitty for Rue?" 

"Yes, I sang to her until she died." 

"Then I let you go, for Rue, and you know, you taught me how to make Clue more fun." He runs off with his and Cato's backpack. I retreat back to the tree I was at last night, and unload Kermit and Marbles from my new backpack. 

"Hi Kermeee and Spiderman" I say happily. They look confused about why they are there, but I'm happy they are. "Let’s go on a walk"   I say, and we explore the arena. I pick some berries and put them on the ground for no reason. I hear Marbles whimper as he sniffs the berries, unsure whether or not to eat them.  "Not right now Kermit" I say "Save those for dessert" I say as I try to find some wild grown dog food in the arena. When I come back all but three berries are gone.  I hear cannon. I look closer at the berries. Nightlock. 

I go over to Foxface's corpse, the berry juice  still dripping in her hands and mouth. That night I hear other dogs, not Kermit or Mr.Marbles, but ones that sound deadly.  

I put Kermie and Marbles in my jacket and try to check out what the sound is, then I see Cato running towards the cornucopia, extremely out of breath. I climb up to the cornucopia with him, then side off towards the mutations.  

"Good puppy, good puppy" I sweetly say to a mutation that looked like Foxface .

Soon all of them want to play with me  "Ha-ha, good byes, now, you see that boy up there?, go rip him to shreds." 

They obey. 

Within hours he is dead. "Ladies and gentleman, the victor of the 74th annual Hunger Games, Jenna Mourey" the the reporter announces. 

Im lifted up into the hovercraft and realize something... 

I forgot my purse in the arena.
