chapter forty one

We walk down the long hospital corridors.

''I am so nervous!''

you put your arm around me.

''It's gonna be okay!

We're going to see our little baby!''

''I know!''

You give me a kiss on my cheek.

We arrive at the apartment we have to be and sit down at some seats.

While waiting, I play nervously with the clasp of my jacket.

It feels like it takes hours.

But the clock tells me we're only waiting for like 3 minutes.

''OMG I can't take this, what if something is wrong!''

''Katheryn Hudson?''

A woman calls my name.

We stand up.

''You can come with me.''

She smiles kindly.

We follow her through another long corridor.

''This room.''

And she leads us in.

''Hello, I'm Sophie.''

''Hello, Katheryn.''

We shake hands.

''I'm John.''

''Sophie.''

''You can lay down here Katheryn.''

I smile nervously and lay down on the table.

''May I lift your shirt up?''

She asks kindly.

I nod my head.

''This is going to feel a bit cold.''

A plastic smile on her face.

I look at the screen.

A lot of darkness.

Different shapes.

And then.

Then a special kind of shape appears.

My breath stocks.

''That's your baby.''

A tear rolls down my cheek.

John nips in my hand.

''My baby.''
