The illustrious picnic

The car came to a stop in the parking lot of the park. Gilbert unbuckled and threw open his door, sprinting to Lili’s door to open it for her.

Lili sat there smiling, waiting for him to open the door. It came after Gilbert had caught his breath. Gilbert pulled the door open and took Lili’s hand, pulling her from the car.

Gilbert led her to the spot Francis had picked for this romantic occasion. He noticed it was under a big shady tree. A blanket was lying on the ground waiting for the couple to sit upon it and enjoy their date. A picnic basket and a cooler were also waiting. Gilbert sat and motioned for Lili to do the same and she did happily.

“Ready for an awesome picnic?” Gilbert questioned and Lili nodded merrily.

“It sounds fun!” Lili cheered and Gilbert wore his amazing award winning smile, causing Lili to blush.

Gilbert opened the picnic basket and pulled out plates and silverware. Lili distributed the lemonade from the cooler, leaving the ice cream sandwiches for later. They started to eat and talk when the food was distributed.

“After this want to play on the playground?” Gilbert inquired and Lili nodded.

“It’s a plan!” Lili chirped after a faint blush rose to her cheeks.

After enjoying their food and the random conversations they got up and walked towards the emptier side of the playground. Lili skipped to the swing set and sat down on a swing lightly rocking back in forth dragging her feet on the ground.  Suddenly Lili was going higher and she twisted around to see Gilbert smirking at her and she blushed and smiled back. Lili was engulfed in wonderful emotions. Joy, happiness, and the mysterious love. She could finally admit to herself that she loved, or at least had a crush on, Gilbert. She blushed heavily at the thought and then the swing came to an abrupt stop. Gilbert took Lili’s hand in his and led her to the slides and they went down the slide together. Lili was placed in Gilbert’s lap and they slid down the slide, childishly giggling the whole way and Lili to blush again.

After playing for a while they came back to their spot and ate the ice cream sandwiches and then packed up the stuff. Then they headed back for the car and drove home.
