They were trekking along the mountains - far away from the people. Sacrificing innocent humans was not on their list. Four of them came to a halt as they saw an abandoned hut hardly 500 metres in front of them. Even though, being vampires, it was easy for them to reach their destination without much fuss, but using their powers will attract too much attention and that was the last thing they wanted to happen right now.

"You think it is wise to spend the night here?" Nandini posed the question as she saw Abhimanyu and Mukthi moving towards the hut. Manik stood next to Nandni, their hands entwined.

"We don't have any other option right now" Manik whispered as he looked around. "We need rest before we continue and also feed ourselves" he continued as he dragged a cautious Nandini behind him.

Mukthi and Abhimanyu was already inside the hut, making sure there was not threat. Signalling Manik that it was safe, both crashed on the dirty floor of the hut. It's not that they are weak as vampires, but with the things happening and the chances of them going to hunt was less, so they had to get proper breaks to avoid losing energy.

"There is a bed by the left corner" Mukthi pointed vaguely towards the direction, "but not strong enough to support anyone." She simply lied back on the floor and focusing on her breathing.

"It's not like we sleep" came the not so sarcastic comment from Abhimanyu. "There is no need for a bed" he said more composed when he saw the glare send to his direction by Mukthi.

As Manik and Nandini plopped down on a small stack of hay by the door, Manik spoke up again "how long?"

His question was answered with silence, before a quite voice from his side spoke up "two more days before we reach his castle. Since we can't use our power, it'll take two more days". Her voice was not strong or full of courage. The weight of the past few days was catching up on her. " Two more days before everything crash down" she added, mindlessly.

The sun was already down and they were all engaged in different activities - yoga, meditation and even staring unblinking into the dark - to calm and channel their energy. All they could do now was store their energy and have patience.

"You do understand what you are saying is mad, right?" Manik's voice floated through the empty space between them. "You do know that one day or the other I'll ask you to do it"

"I won't be able to do it" nandini's voice was strained. "It's a promise I made to myself when we got into the relationship. You have to understand how much hard it'll be for me."

"I understand that. But what if the situation demands it?"His question hung in the air, bitter and unwanted.

"There won't be a situation like that" her voice was stern and determined.

"Fine. I am not going to bring up this topic again" Manik left without another word.

"Why is he not trying to understand the gravity of the situation?" She buried her face in her hands and groaned lightly.

"Maybe he does" another voice floated into the room startling Nandini.

"What?"

"Maybe he does understand why you are hesitating. Maybe all he wants is your acknowledgement of his request. He is not saying such a situation will arise but it will give him peace of mind to know that you won't hesitate to do the needful if such a situation arise." the voice continued. "And it might help you to ease the fear you are carrying inside you"

"I don't know" Nandini's voice was small and barely audible. She was not even lightly shocked that there was a random voice coming from some corner of the room, as if she knew it was going to come. " I am not sure if I will be able to do what he is asking. The how can I promise him?" she looked up hoping to see the face she was expecting.

"Only you can answer that Nandu" Abhimanyu came out of the shadows, eyes soft and a subtle smile playing on his lips. He have always managed to be the voice in her head when she was in confusion. She gave a crisp nod and smiled at him.

"I guess I should go and find him." Her voice was much more lighter, her shoulders relaxed and an easy smile playing on her lips. Abhimanyu gave her an encouraging nod and left without a noise, just like he came. She still wondered how he managed to do that and he was stubborn enough to not let her into his secret.

"Well be ready Nandini, you have an angry hulk to calm" Nandini gave herself a pep talk before going to find her angry monster.

"Thinking about something?" Nandini was startled by the sudden presence of Abhimanyu.

"You should tell me how you manage to do this every time" Nandini said turning to look at him."I was just thinking" she sighed.

"I can hear the chains turning in your mind from a mile away. What got your little head in a twist?" His voice was light. No one would believe they were walking into a potential war.

"Drama queen" she giggle before settling into a comfortable silence. "I was just revisiting old days" she paused "before that happened to Manik. You know, the argument me and Manik had about it"

Abhimanyu nodded choosing to stay silent.

"So you aagree?" Manik's voice was overflowing with relief.

"Yes!!" She would do it for him, for them.

Hello guys!!! Am back with another update (which is late, i know). Too many things have been going on that I couldn't sit down to write something. This update won't up to the expectations because I have been having a terrible block about how to write this chapter and the next one before the story gets back on track. So please make do with this filler chapter *makes puppy eyes*.

Do leave your comments and suggestions in the comments and hit the star if you guys liked the update.

Lots of love!!!!
