The Devil in Boots - Manan ff

Chapter 13

Abhi's POV:

I clutched my head as I opened my eyes. My head was aching and my memory from yesterday night was foggy. A photo on the wall caught my attention. It was a picture of me and Nandini before I moved here. An involuntary smile appeared on my lips. She is the best friend any one could ask for. But more than a best friend, she is like my sister.

I looked around before calling Manik and Nandini. As my gaze fell on the floor, I chuckled lightly. Both were sitting on the floor - sleeping. Her head was on his chest and his head was pressed on her hair and arms around her protectively. 

No matter how many times he loses his memory, he'll always be possessive and protective of her - typical caveman. It was a sight to awe at but there are important things at hand that needs attention.

So instead of waking them right away, I made my way to the kitchen. I kept a pot of water and milk on the stove and waited for it to boil. Keeping three mugs on the counter I turned around to grab some coffee powder when my head started to throb badly. 

Ugh..What happened yesterday? I shook my head lightly as the throbbing dulled.

Pouring the mixture (water and milk) into the cups, I added coffee powder, some sugar and stirred it well.

I tried to clear my head and remember what exactly happened yesterday. Everything was so blurred. 

No one's POV:

"It can wait for some other time" he murmured as he placed the mugs in a tray and walked into the hall.

"Wake up sleeping beauties" he shook both of them lightly, only to earn annoyed groans from both of them.

"Well, don't blame me" he chuckled and took a jar of water kept on the near by table and poured it over their head.

"ABHI" it was Nandini who screamed, whereas Manik was sitting their shocked as a blurred image of the same scene flashed in his mind'.

"What the hell is wrong with you Abhi?" Nandini scolded him as he laughed on.

"You have done this before, right?" the question got the attention of Abhi and Nandini.

"You have done this before, haven't you?" one could physically see the confusion Manik was in.

Nandini and Abhi was silent for a moment before Abhi nodded "Yeah, it was one of my favorite way to annoy you two."

"How do you know it?" Nandini asked carefully, not wanting to freak him out.

"I just.." Manik covered his face with his hands and shook his head. "It just flashed in my mind, you know. A similar scene but at a different place" he looked up at Nandini and then at Abhi.

"Well it's definitely a good thing that you are starting to get these flashes" Abhi said after a moment. "I mean you are starting to remember how it was before and that, according to me, is the best thing now" he sat next to Manik and pulled him into a side hug.

"Yeah and don't worry, everything will be fine." Nandini sat on other side of Manik and held his hands tightly.

"Feels like home" Manik murmured after a moment of silence and Both Abhi and Nandini couldn't stop the smile that graced their lips. Manik may not be remembering anything but some feelings never changes.

"This wasn't supposed to happen" he roared. His silhouette pacing in the room.

"M-Master.." a weak, skinny figure stood there shaking with fear. His skin was filled with scratched and bruises.

"I told you to make sure that that Abhimanyu won't be alive to see the next day" the silhouette turned to face the skinny figure, eyes glowing red.
"One simple job and you couldn't do it"

"Am s-so sor-ry M-Master. He was stronger than me" the skinny figure kneeled on the ground, hands shaking. He knew the punishment for not doing what was asked.

"Hmmm...interesting" the dark figure featured the other person to leave.

"Thank you master" the skinny figure cried in gratitude. It was not everyday you'll be released without a punishment.

"Don't thank me yet, Albatross. Not yet. Now leave" his voice sharp.

"Yes master" the man Albatross moved out of the room as fast as his weak legs could.

"Abhimanyu...you won't be lucky next time" his dark laugh echoed in the room.

"Slowly I'll take away everything you hold dear, Manik and you'll be left with nothing and then it'll be between me and you" he ran his tongue over his fangs.
