"And Delany this is your niece Angeli!"

the night before

"You know I'm totally gonna win right?"

I spoke to my best friend as we geared up for a couple of rounds on the racing track.

"Girl, whatever! If this is a replay of what happened last year I got this in the bag."

She sassed back as we were guided to our cars and we drove on the outside track to the start line.

"Alright, you all know the rules! Be nice, drive safe and have fun! On your mark, get set!"

Then came the gun shot that indicated go and off we were, speeding through the track zigging and zagging through other strangers and of course Kori and I were neck and neck.

"I told you I was gonna win!"

I gloated in Kori's face with a big smile just happy to be in her presence.

"I see you've gotten good since I've been gone."

She said as we got our slices of pizza and took a seat.

"I know girl I miss you!"

With a pout I claimed. Its definitely been hard not seeing my best friend everyday like I used too. Ever since she left to Los Angles to pursue her dream of becoming a chef I've been left lonely.

"Yeah me too, but we're not here to talk about this! Let's talk about your situation with the Luh's."

I laughed with a slick eye roll.

"I feel like i should just give Delany a shot but I'm scared. I don't want know flippy floppy shit in Angeli's life. I hated that growing up and being in a child's life isn't part time thing, it's a full time and forever thing. You know? I've just been trying to take Derek's word on her character and try to refrain from comparing her to her parents, since Derek is nothing like them either."

Kori agreed to what I was saying I knew she felt  where I was coming from. For the most part, Kori and I had the same life, wealthy parents and totally different dreams apart from our parents dreams for us. My parents were just way more accepting of my choice of path.

"I know baby, I really hope that everything works out! Girl as much as I love LiLi, I'm so not ready for children!"

I laughed and I know for a fact if the roles were reversed I'd be saying the same thing. My corner of motherhood isn't as hectic as could be but it definitely has its days.

"Oh my baby I missed you! Oh my goodness my LiLi baby!"

I just gushed as I greeted my daughter first thing next morning. Kori was still very much by my side.  We had a blast last night catching up and playing childish games but my baby was still heavy on my mind.

"Angeli missed you so much! It took her forever just to fall asleep and she wasn't hungry, I made sure!"

Hearing so made me even more soft hearted and just overall happy to see her. My dad handed me her diaper and overnight bag and soon we were headed off.
