"Great. I'lll see you in a few." I smiled as I put down my phone. Chelsea would be over in about 5 minutes. Chelsea was my best friend, and probably my only real friend, besides Ron, but he went to public school and we didn't hang out much since my mom and I moved to this huge house.

Leaving my phone in my room, I went to stand near the railing. When you first walked upstairs, there's a... balcony, if you will, that overlooked the living room and entryway. I stood there, well... a safe distance behind there, so as not to be seen, and watched as my mom opened the front door. I was planning to eavesdrop and hopefully get some information I could use against my mom's client from their conversation when he first walked in. "Hello Greg! Welcome to my home, I'm so glad you could come. I think this meeting will allow us to make a lot of progress on your case." "Thank you for having me over , Sarah." "Of course. So, I've been looking through the rules and regulations of Starr Records, and I found..." Their voices faded away as my mother led Greg to the dining room.

" hey. Hey. Hey you. Yeah, yeah you. Yooouu've got a TEXT! From who? Frooommmm yourrrr BEST FRIEND! YEAHHH! That's ri-" Crap. That was my phone. I ran into my room where the annoying voice was blaring from my new iPhone 5. I quickly silenced it and checked the message.

'Chels: Im outside chic! Parked 3 houses down 😘 it's cool to come in the front?'

'Me: ya hold on ill open it'

I put the ringer on silent before shoving my phone in my pocket, and creeping down the steps to the front door. I could hear my mom and Greg talking down the hall, so I pulled out my phone again.

'Me: Quiet wen u come in. Client is here.'

I waited until my phone said she had read it before unlocking and opening the door. Chelsea slipped in quickly, making sure her purse didn't make any noise and holding her keys and phone in her hand. I shut the door as she ran, barefoot and carrying her heels, upstairs to my room. Locking it back, I chuckled silently at the sight of my best friend making exaggerated tiptoeing motions from the balcony upstairs. Rolling my eyes fondly, I ran upstairs after her, making sure to keep my footsteps light. Once we were in my room and the door was shut, Chelsea ran and hugged me, squealing softly. "Eeeeepp. I haven't seen you in like a week!" She exclaimed, pouting. "I know! Too long. Summer is supposed to be about hanging out with your besties. We need to get with the times." I hugged her back with a smile.

"So, what's up with OC?"

"What?"

"You know, Operation Client." I couldn't help but burst out laughing. "How.. When... Operation Client? Really?" Chelsea shrugged, "It was the best I could come up with on short notice." She said, totally serious as she pretended to examine her nails. Finally she cracked a smile, glancing up at me before laughing along.

When we calmed down, I did my best to answer her question. "Well, I don't really know yet. All I know is his name is Greg and he's got some problem with Starr Records...What?" I was about to say that I also knew his age and who he worked for, but Chelsea had a glint in her eyes. Uh oh. She had an idea. "Welllll since you asked." My friend paused for dramatic affect. "You know those walkie talkies you got me for Christmas?" I nodded, starting to get excited. "Well I just happen to have them in my purse." She said, grinning as she pulled out the camo radios I had gotten her as a joke. I couldn't help but smile as I said, in my best Southern Belle accent, "Well, I'll be!" Chelsea rolled her eyes and told me to just 'shut up and get the tape."

***********************************

5 minutes, half a roll of duct tape, a penny, and a sweatshirt later

"Are you sure this will work? I mean what if the penny slips out?" Chels glared at me, "Please, honey. This ain't my first rodeo. Of course it'll work." I looked at her doubtfully. "Seriously. Will it work?" My friend sighed, "Has Tony cheated on Rebecca more than twice?" Well that was a no-brainer. "Alright. Not worried anymore." Chelsea giggled. "Thats what I thought."

I walked downstairs as Chels watched from the balcony. I walked in the dining room casually, flashing my mom and Greg a smile. "Hello, sweetie. Greg, this is my daughter Reyna." Greg stuck his hand out and I shook it, still smiling sweetly. "Pleasure to meet you, sir." I said, backing away with a polite nod. "Don't mind me, I'm just grabbing a glass of water." My mom smiled, the picture of great etiquette, but I knew she would be annoyed later.

The kitchen was separated by a thin wall, with a rather large opening where a door would go, if we wanted to put one there. I walked in and got a glass down from the cupboard, looking around for a place to stick the walkie talkie. The wall was pretty thin and they were actually semi-expensive walkie-talkies, so they should pick up sound fairly easy... I walked over to the sink and turned on the water, still looking around. I didn't want the placement to be too obvious, just in case. I finally decided on the cupboard with the plastic tuber ware and measuring cups. I didn't see any reason they would need to get in that while my moms client was here. Flipping on the filter, I set my glass under the water and opened the cabinet, setting the hand held radio down carefully, on the side closest to the dining room. Quietly, I shut the cabinet and shut off the water, throwing some ice in my water before quickly exiting and heading back upstairs.

"Mission completed." I reported as I walked in my room, shutting and locking my door. Chelsea was turning up the volume on the radio in my room. My mom's voice was fairly clear and Chelsea gave me a thumbs up, "Nice placement." She whispered. She also had put an old, detective style hat on and gotten a notebook and a pen that looked like a quill. When she saw the look I was giving her, she promptly exclaimed, "What?! Your magnifying class and cape are over there, Watson." I grinned, picking up a small magnifying glass and -yes- a cape from the top of My friends purse, shaking my head. "What would I do without you?" I wondered aloud, to which she responded, "Nothing. You would be a lame hermit. Now shut up and listen so we can get more info on 'The Client.'"

A/N: Alright, so what did you guys think? It was definitely a longer chapter this time, haha. This is around the length most chapters will be, maybe longer, sometimes shorter... So, right now there isn't much action, but dont worry- it'll get there. Comments, questions, concerns, suggestions, cries for help? Please leave a comment and tell me if you liked it, loved it, hated it, wanted to throw your phone at the wall after reading it, or all of the above. Just wanted to let you know, I will try to update every week- oh, and I found how to do italics and bold. Yay! :D Alright, I've rambled on for long enough. Thanks so much for reading! <3

Oh! Also, the walkie talkie thing. You know the button you have to hold down to talk? Well they pushed a penny down on that button and held it there with some duct tape. As for the sweatshirt, she put it on so that she could hide the handheld radio in her pocket without it being too obvious. Crafty girls, right? Haha, just thought that might need some explanation.
