______ CHAPTER THREE_____
Operation Client failed. Miserably. We learned that Greg was a very boring single 38 year old man who was suing Starr Records for copyright issues. He thought I was a very polite young lady, and was allergic to cheese, rendering him unable to eat the tiny sandwiches my mom had made. And then they went into my mom's office to work on some 'legal paperwork'. Needless to say, our plan had failed because walkie talkies, no matter how expensive, could not 'hear' through four walls and a wooden door.Accepting our defeat, Chelsea and I had grabbed the walkie talkie and ran back up to my room.
Plopping down on my bed, Chels stuck the walkie talkie back in her purse, after taking off the duct tape. She sighed, "Well. That wasn't any fun. He could've at least had, like, 8 kids like that Donald guy." We burst out laughing, remembering the dorky old guy we had once played a prank on.

"Hello."
"Hello?"
"It's Cassandra," we had lied, using the name of his wife.
"Hi, honey. What is it? I'm in the middle of meeting with my lawyer. And why aren't you calling from your cell?"
"I just..." Chelsea made a sniffling noise.
"What's wrong?" And then in the background 'Sarah, excuse me a second.'
"I have to tell you something." She paused before wailing out "I...I...I'm pregnant! I don't waaaannttt nine kiddssss" Chelsea was a really good actor.
"You're.. You're what!? We didn't even... We haven't... How..." It was all I could do to not bust out chuckling. Chelsea glared at me, and I saw a smile tugging at her unnaturally red lips. Oops, I was distracting the master.
"I don't know. Oh, and I found something else out, too. You know if you say gullible reeaaalllyyy slowly, it sounds like oranges."

Okay, so we weren't that good at pranks. But that one had gone pretty well. The confusion and fear mixed with regret had been so evident in his voice. Was it cruel? Maybe. But not compared to some of the things my male classmates did. I had promised myself, and made Chelsea promise as well, that we wouldn't stoop that low.
I pulled my phone out and checked my email. Mostly junk mail, a couple pieces of chain mail, a few coupons, and an email from my dad. I sighed when I saw I actually had three new messages. He was a good enough dad, but I felt like he tried too hard sometimes.
The rest of the day was kind of a blur. Chelsea stayed over until about 8. We prank called a couple people, played Hot or Not with people from last year's class, and just chatted for awhile. As soon as she was gone, I collapsed on my bed. I had gotten up early for a run this morning, and even though I was used to a busy life style, I was exhausted... Correction- Chelsea was exhausting.
***********************************
I must have fallen asleep at some point because I woke up to a knock on my bedroom door and my mom's voice calling "Rey, honey, can I talk to you?" Picking up my phone, I checked the time. 9:25. I had been out for about an hour. Groaning, I sat up and nodded, before realizing my door was closed and my mom couldn't see me. "Come in." I said, yawning as I pulled up my legs to sit cross legged on my bed. Leaning my head against the wall and pulling my dark gold hair, now messed up from sleeping awkwardly on it, into a messy bun, I gazed sleepily at my mom as she walked in. She didn't usually come in my room, which was kind of obvious as she leaned against the wall, wringing her hands, not sure of what to do. I raised an eyebrow, "You can sit on my bed or pull out that chair from my desk." Watching as she rolled out the desk chair, I took in her slightly disgruntled appearance and wondered what was on her mind. Her ironed, sleek black suit was replaced with sweatpants and an old tank top, but that's not what was off; she normally slept in old clothes. She looked nervous.
"So... How've you been?" For being a highly successful lawyer, my mom wasn't too good at hiding her emotions. "Good, I guess." I answered, eyeing my mom. My mom sighed and looked down at her hands. "I know, I know. I'm a bad actor. You know I didn't come here to make small talk." I looked at her expectantly, waiting for her to go on.
"So me and your father have been talking-" uh oh. My parents didn't talk much. It's not that they fought, but they were just very different. They didn't really talk unless it was about something important. "And, um, well, I know you said you wanted to stay with me when we split up but.. Uh. Honey, you know you haven't been out to visit your father since he moved to Tennessee."
"I don't do country. I like L.A." I replied blandly. I wasn't exactly sure what she was getting at, but my mom seemed pretty fidgety.
"Well, honey, your father and I think that it would be good for you if you went and spent some time with him."
"Like how long?" I asked, my voice flat.
"Um.. Well, for... For the next school year. I want you to go and live with your dad for your Junior year. Now, before y-"
"YOU WANT ME TO WHAT!?" I could no longer stay calm. "Mother, do you know how sucky it is to switch high schools? No, I'm sure you don't. And going to Tennessee? Seriously? You know how much I love LA!! I'm a city girl! I... Ugh!" Putting my head in my hands, I tried not to get too worked up, but that was almost impossible. I would be leaving behind so much. All my friends, Mrs. Brass (the only teacher I've ever really liked), everything.
My mom sighed, and when she talked her voice was considerably smaller. "Yes. I do know what it's like to switch high schools." Her voice caught for a moment and then it grew stronger and gradually louder. "You have no idea my childhood, Reyna. And maybe you would if you cared at all about your family! You need to learn that fashion, boys, and money are not the only important things in life." Her voice began to return to normal as she continued. "You are going to live with your father. I do not want any arguments." Before I even had a chance to process anything she had just said, my mom got up and walked out of my room.
Woah. My mom was seriously fired up. And I was... I was going to live in Tennessee. Oh my God.
A/N: Alright, so there's the big revelation. Do you really think Sarah was telling the full truth? Or do you think there are some other reasons why she's sending Reyna away? Hmm. Take your time and ponder that ;) The next chapter will be kind of about how she's taking the news. Thanks so much for reading.
