Unspoken

Hayley and Louis

“Oi Lou! I’m open!” Louis heard Liam shout from the other side of the makeshift field. Louis raised his eyes to focus on the smirking boy in front of him, Harry was steadying himself, rocking slightly as he prepared to leap for the save.

Louis could see the angle wasn’t right so just as Niall cam sprinting in for the tackle, he passed it to his right. Liam tapped it on one as Harry and Niall watched incredulously as he scored.

“LILO FOR THE WIN!” Louis yelled as Liam came up and gave him a high five, ruffling his hair.

“Yeah well. If Zayn wasn’t too busy in the studio, we would have won.” Niall said childishly as Harry nodded in agreement. Liam rolled his eyes.

“You’re just saying that because you suck.” Louis replied smirking. Harry’s face twisted into a scowl before he picked up the ball and drop-kicked it further into the park.

“Real mature.” Liam mumbled as Harry smirked.

“Better go get your ball Lou.” Harry laughed, walking back to their stuff along with Niall and Liam. Louis frowned as he past the boys, punching Harry on the shoulder roughly.

Louis jogged off, hearing Harry’s girlish squeal of pain as he chuckled to himself.

He couldn’t see the ball anywhere and the further he looked the less people there were. After about ten minutes of searching he finally spotted the red and while ball in a bush, just off a small group of trees.

The day was gorgeous, with a slight breeze, but mostly sunny. As Louis picked up the ball he peeked over the shrub and found a girl sketching. The first thing Louis noticed was her eccentric hair. The blue stood out amongst the green surrounding her.

The second thing he noticed was her sketchbook. She had a battered brown bag lying next to her, with pencils and erasers littering the ground. There was another red sketchbook that was lying half in and half out of the bag.

He smiled when he noticed that she was drawing a rose that was on the ground in front of her. The shape was the same, obviously plucked from a bush in the nearby courtyard, but it was amazing.

About 90% done, the rose still looked like the flower but instead of the soft pink hue, it was coloured with small, black, inky drawings. There were small, everyday items, filling ever inch of the rose as her small hands were smudged with ink.

Louis realised that he had been looking at this girl for a while, so he went to sit and talk to her, she seemed like the kind of person Louis would like to know.

“Hey.” He said sitting in front of her. The girl looked unfazed by the arrival, raising her eyebrows slightly, indicating she knew who he was. He could get a better look at her now, seeing she was quite short with piercings in her lip and nose.

“Hi.. I’m Hayley.” She introduced, smiling and nodding her head. Her pale grey eyes seemed curious as to why he was sitting with her but she didn’t say anything, just went back to filling the delicate rose with small harsh drawings. The contrast between the two was intriguing.

“Louis.” He responded, tossing the ball up and down in the air while she continued to draw. After a few more minutes Louis was bored, she hadn’t made another attempt to talk to him because there was this unsaid agreement hat they would speak until her drawing was complete.

Louis picked up the sketchbook that was handing out of her bag and flicked through it. Pages and pages of vibrant drawings filled the pages. Every single picture made Louis wonder what she had been looking at, how this girl must have seen the world.

This girl was something new, and h was interested to find more about her. After another five minutes of waiting, Hayley scribbled a signature at the bottom of the page and look up with a grin.

“What can I do for you Louis Tomlinson?” She asked smiling cheekily. He noticed now that he accent was distinct, obviously not English or European, maybe Australian?

“Fan?” He asked.

“Maybe.’ Was he short response.

“I think you’re a great drawer. You should draw me.” He said simply, appearing cocky as his heart rate quickened nervously. This girl knew what was going to happen, this girl knew and wasn’t given any indication of what she had in store.

“Another day maybe.” She replied, pulling her belongings into her bag, placing both sketchbooks in as well. She stood up, walking away from Louis as he stared at her.

“You were going to give me your number?” he called out and even as he yelled the words he knew they were true. How? Louis didn’t know but somehow, Hayley had told him, wordlessly that she intended to meet up again.

Hayley turned, smiling at his statement and this confirmed Louis’ suspicions. She tapped her nose twice, smiling again before walking out of his view.

Louis turned back to his spot trying to figure it out.

Hayley had left a page torn out of her sketchbook in the spot she was sitting, a picture of her. The colours were vibrant, drawn with precision and creative flair.

On the right hand corner, at the bottom was her signature and above that, her number.

Hayley continued to walk as her phone buzzed, she pulled it out of her pocket and read the message.

From unknown.

Interesting business card. Louis xx

Hayley smiled. She and Louis both knew that whatever was going on was far from over.
