She waited for him by the lamp post on the corner of my street. Thinking to herself, oh my gosh! I'm actually going on a date with him! Oblivious to her surroundings, Angel was given a few funny looks from people passing by, as she was jumping in excitement. Upon finally noticing this, She stopped suddenly and dusted herself off trying to look busy.
Then she saw him....in a car, cruising down her street, soon to stop in front of her. She smiled and watched him, checking herself to make sure she looked ok. Zack stopped beside her and rolled down his window, "Well hey there gorgeous!" he says almost confidently. "Ummm, hai." She tries not to stutter too much, not being able to match up to his level of sureness. "Well, did you intend on standing there all night? I mean, the view from here is pretty nice, but I'd rather see you here beside me." She jumps and starts to the passenger door, "Right! Of course! Silly boy." She opened the door and got in, looking over at him after shutting the door.
I couldn't help but stare at him....he was just so beautiful. He started driving again and set his arm on the armrest between us, I felt the urge to take his hand, but restrained myself from it. "So, where are we headed?" I ask him with my hands folded in my lap. "Wherever you wish to go really." Hearing my tummy growl in response, he laughs, "I guess that means somewhere to eat right?" "hush you, and well..maybe, yes." I smiled a little as the tension in the car broke. We headed off somewhere rather casual for dinner, despite our slightly dressy attire. We talked and laughed together at almost a constant rate. We had dinner, me with my fried chicken salad and him with a burger. After dinner we returned to the car and started driving, not really to a specific destination, but simply cruising. I finally slipped my arm around his and held his hand as we rode, enjoying the silence with him. I just smiled.
After about 30 minutes of riding peacefully, he stops on the side and we get out. In the distance I can see a lake with a gazebo, lit with small, white, lights. I look over at zack and he takes my hand as we walk together. "Where are we?" I ask curiously. "This is a secret spot I found, so I cleaned it up and made it look nice so I could bring you here." Hoping he can't see me blushing I look over the lake. "Wow zack, it's so pretty! I'm so happy you brought me here!" he just smiles softly and me and then takes me to the gazebo, and I can hear faint music playing from somewhere, although I don't bother to ask where it's coming from, I simply trust him. He takes my hand, "will you share this dance with me, princess?" Looking at him, slightly shocked and breathless, not able to move until I realize I'm actually supposed to answer and that this is not a dream and I'm not at the part where I wake up abruptly. "Yes, of course. But I've never really danced with anyone before, so you'll have to lead me." he smiles again, "that's perfectly fine" I take the hand he's offered to me and he pulls me close to him, placing my arms around his neck and his hands on my waist. Slowly, we begin to dance. Letting him lead me I feel as though I'm in a whole other place, that nothing bad can happen to me as long as I'm with Zack. I can't help but notice his eyes, and the shade of beautiful green tourmaline they are, and how I feel as though they are drawing me in. All I have the strength to do now is stare. I start to speak, but stop myself. I'd much rather enjoy this moment lacking words, just being with one another. As though we could have an entire conversation just by looking into the other's eyes.
The flow of time has stopped at this point, and I don't know how long we've been staring at each other, but I decide to lean in and lay my head on his chest, just holding him there not ever wanting this moment to end. "Hey Zack?" I whisper up at him. "Yes?" His soft response. "Thank you." I can see the confused look on his face. "What for?"...."for always being there, and for teaching me how to feel again." He just held me closer and never let go. I look up at zack and place my hand against his cheek, savoring every moment we spend together. He then moves in closer and kisses me. I kiss back and hold him close to me.
Later on that night, Zack and I were laying on some blankets he "conveniently" had in the back of his car. We continued to watch the stars for a while as I laid my head on his chest and kept an arm over him. Suddenly, an idea came to mind and I sat up and got out my phone. "What are you up to?" He asks. "Oh just something you asked me to do once." He never shifts his gaze from me while I start to play, "Falling in love in a coffee shop- Landon Pigg" Zack smiles, having an idea of what I'm about to do. I just return the smile and begin to sing softly, with growing confidence as I do. He listens speechlessly until the song ends while I just sit there blushing, embarrassed, hoping I sounded okay. "Wow." are his only words. "Was It that awful?" He instantly replies, "No. no! It was beautiful!" "really? " "yes." I kiss him once more then lay back on his chest, letting him cover me in an extra blanket, as we both eventually drift into sleep.
