CHAPTER ONE - BEACHES and CAFES:

(Unedited)

P A I G E ' S   P O V :

The combination of excessively bright light, high pitched screaming, and dogs barking, awake me on this Saturday morning. I attempt to speak but the only sound that exits my mouth is an unintended groan. Against my better judgement, I uncover my large green eyes, and turn towards the worst, yet best invention ever, an alarm clock. Having had just woken up, it takes a few seconds for me to process the numbers and the time. After realizing it was 10:30 am, I look to the window where a figure stands. Of course it took a moment or so to allow my eyes to adjust because the large windows drapes were pulled back. Standing in front of it, a girl who I instantly recognized, spoke in a perky tone. She said "Great so you are up," Which made her earn a loud "Ugghh," from me. My close friend, Ellie, seemingly doesn't know when and when not to go barging into a person's room. "How could you wake me up? I hate you, you are the worst Ellie," I complain. She speaks again, "I made waffles," My mouth instantly waters.

"You are the best. I love you!" I say with as much excitement I could possibly gather with my lack of energy. Ellie replies with a quick, "I know," and using her hand, motions for me to come downstairs. In response to that I say "Let me get ready, then I'll come down." She nods and leaves the room, closing the door in the process. I slip off my covers, immediately missing the warmth it provided and walked to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and tied my hair up into a high ponytail, not caring about the outcome, and headed downstairs. Greeting me at the bottom was Ellie's dog named Buddy. His tail wagged at the sight of me which made me smile, and I gave him a quick pat. The smell of chocolate chip waffles make my stomach grumble, and quite loudly I may add, which makes Ellie laugh. The song "Havana" was playing and Ellie hummed the tune, adding in a couple dance moves wherever she could fit them in. I suppressed a laugh, because I knew the breakfast would then consist of Ellie arguing about how she was a great dancer.

I take a seat at the counter, where plates and silverware were already in place. I reach into my pocket where my phone sat, and began to scroll through my emails, mostly consisting of the principal's class arrangements updates and such. Ellie takes a seat beside me, looking up I smile at the sight of stacked chocolate chip waffles with strawberries on top, whipped cream, syrup, two pieces of bacon, and orange juice. "You know me too well. I am impressed." She giggles.

"That's what I get for knowing you for six years." I giggle as well, noticing how she always brings out my inner child. We finish breakfast, and Ellie's dogs eat the leftover bacon after sitting. I ran upstairs and took a shower, brushing my teeth afterwards, then met Ellie downstairs joining her on the comfy leather couch. After watching an episode of the Vampire Diaries, we decide to go to the beach since it is my last day in Florida with her. I run upstairs, dry my hair along with brushing the knots out of it. I look in the mirror and French braid my long strawberry blonde hair. I then head over to my closet and pick out a purple bikini, and I pair it with a pink dress to go over it.

When I come back downstairs, Ellie is already good to go, and I compliment her on her outfit. Her short blonde hair is slightly wavy and she too has a dress over her swimsuit. We pop on our flip flops and walk to the beach making sure to lock the front door of the house. The beach is only about a block away from Ellie's house, so it took about two minutes to get there. When we arrived, the beach was packed. Ellie and I removed our dresses revealing our bikinis. Ellie went to rent an umbrella while I set up the chairs and applied sunscreen. When she came back she applied sunscreen to my back and I did the same for her. We swam, tanned, and a guy even let us borrow his surf board. We were both tired and decided to get lunch. A nearby café cought my eye. The interior was cute and the service was great. We both ended up getting a chicken Caesar salad, which was fresh and tasty. "Hey Paige," Ellie said while I paid the check.
