— james prefers to be called by his middle name, eliot/'eli', because his first name reminds him too much of his past. some people can get away with calling him james, but if someone calls him jameson...there's no guarantee he might not try to rip out their tongue.

— james "lowkey" was in love with elijah for the longest time after he had turned him into a vampire. he held a little bit of resentment, because being thirsty for human blood all the time was a really big pain, but elijah was there for him when he needed someone most, saved his life, and in a time where being different was more intensely frowned upon; elijah had treated him no differently than anyone else and didn't seem to care at all about his preferences. some of the strix referred to him as a lost little puppy. he was the og 'teacher's pet.' he still sometimes catches himself feeling bad about how he turned out in present day, mostly because it hurts him to think that elijah was possibly disappointed in him, or even hated him for what he had become.

— back in the 20's and 40's, james used to preform in speakeasy's and local establishments. in these eras, they were the closest he had been to getting his humanity back. singing isn't something he does often, and when he does, it's never usually around other people. he used to sing to his first lover, and after being betrayed, singing seems to make him feel more emotions than he'd like to.

— he's always got booze on him. his flask literally has never known what it's like to be empty.

— he's got a big fear of commitment but he tends to flirt or make innuendo a lot, so don't take it personally. it's relatively easy to tell the difference between him just being a flirt compared to when he actually likes someone, unless he's really trying to hide his emotions.

— "oh, honey, no — "

— the definition of pretty boy, and wants everyone to know it. he's a bit dramatic, and kind of an attention whore because even though he's got a fear of commitment, he really hates being by himself.
