headcanons;

— eli considers hope to be like a niece/little sister to him.
— she changes him so much, it scares him. so much so that he goes as far to make sure he's sober whenever they spend time together.
— he hasn't told anyone, but she reminds him of a sister he used to have. he never talks about her.
— though klaus and hayley most likely don't trust her with him, eli's actually one of the most responsible when it comes to her. he'll fuss over her like crazy and make sure she's fed, happy, etc.
— spoils her SO much. he's always making her cookies and giving her old books he's liked from over the years, and would literally buy her anything she asked for to make sure she was happy. unless it was booze or drugs. he'd probably freak out if she ever asked for something like that.

— calls her 'little sunflower' mostly because he loves the sun, but not having his ring on causes him pain. sunflowers bring him the same happiness as the sun, but minus the pain. no matter what mood he's in, hope could never hurt him but only put a smile on his face.
— whenever he's traveling, he brings a little journal and makes sure to take pictures and write about his traveling experience. he does this so when he returns, hope can read of his adventures.
— he's always afraid of falling into a mood swing when around her. just like his fear with elijah, he fears that hope might see his bad side one day and not want to be around him anymore.
