Chapter Three
View: Rosalie
Date: September Tenth
Oh thank god it was Friday. It was only the first week of school, and I was already ready to go home and just sleep.
I sat back in the seat of Jay’s car as he drove out of the student parking lot. From next to me, I heard Vaselia’s phone beep.
Okay, that had to be the sixth time it’s beeped since we got out of school, and we got out of school only five minutes ago.
“What? Do you have a fan club or something?” I asked jokingly.
“It’s starting to annoy me,” she laughed looking over. “I mean, it feels awesome to have people want to talk to me and all, but it gets confusing texting too many people.” She sighed leaning back in the seat.
It was true too, when I would walk in the halls with Vaselia, or when we would stay in the foyer before the first period five minute warning bell, she’d have people come up to her and ask for her number. And a lot of these people, were upper classmen guys. We both had wanted to meet a hot high school guy this year, and I was beginning to think this was going to be all too easy for her. To be completely honest, I was kind of jealous. I mean, I did have a few guys ask for my number, but Vaselia literally had them clinging to her! Well I guess I understood why, Vaselia was pretty, with her pretty blonde hair and deep blue eyes. Not to mention the fact that her pale skin looked good with her light features. She had a small face, with lightly shaded lips and a small nose to complete her pretty face. She never had to try hard to look good, it just happened for her. Whenever she’d complain about not thinking she was all that pretty, I’d want to hit her. With a large object.
“Miss. Popular,” Juliet smiled looking into the back seat at Vaselia.
“Miss. Popular is right, some guy in my gym class asked if I would introduce him to you,” Jay laughed looking into the rearview mirror.
Vaselia sighed again, as her cheeks turned lightly pink.
Vaselia always was the one to have guy’s attention. I remember she had her first real boyfriend in the beginning of eighth grade, and when he asked her out, he had kissed her in the school hallway. That had been her first kiss and she was so excited about it. But as many middle school relationships, it didn’t last too long. She hadn’t had too many boyfriends since then, and I could tell she was never fully happy with them. She was the kind of girl who always dreamed of meeting the perfect guy for her, that she’d never want to let go, but out of all the guys that wanted to talk to her, she never seemed interested in any of them. But she was only a freshman; she had her whole life ahead of her.
I looked over at her as she was leaning back in the seat. I heard her phone beep again, she made a face and tossed it into her backpack, not bothering to look who the text had come from.
She didn’t like a lot of attention, she never has. She liked having friends, but being the center of attention was something she always wanted to avoid. Who needed the drama anyway? But it was hard for so many people not to talk to her when she loved meeting new people. She loved socializing for god knows why.
I was the complete opposite of her. My definition of people; Creatures who lurk through school hallways making loud, annoying sounds while laughing obnoxiously and walking as slow as possible while I mentally hit my head against a brick wall walking behind them.
Yeah. That was pretty much it.
“Hey, if you don’t want them to text you, just do what I do,” I smirked.
“What’s that?” Vaselia looked over smiling.
“Tell them your phone exploded, and you’re incapable of texting,” I kept the smirk on my face.
“But if I text someone saying that my phone exploded, wont that kind of ruin the purpose?” She laughed.
“That’s the point,” I closed my eyes and smiled, still leaning back in the seat.
I re-opened my eyes to see Juliet giving me a weird look from the passenger’s seat.
“What? Creature,” I joked.
Juliet made a face and threw a crumpled up piece of paper at me.
By the time Jay had pulled up to the front of my house, Vaselia had already gotten dropped off, and Jay looked warn out.
“Thanks for the ride, see you guys later,” I smiled getting out of the car.
Finally, I was home. Now it was time to get food, my cat, and go hibernate in my room for the next twenty four hours.
