Chapter twenty-nine.
2 months later.
“Are you okay Nor?” Kenneth’s mate, Fiona gathered my hair back as I threw up my breakfast into the toilet bowl. I was too busy chocking on my intestines to notice another presence in the room. Plus the stench made my eyes burn and my throat pricked. I finished up then went to the sink to rinse and brush my teeth for the third time this morning. Taking a deep breath I tried to calm down the raging migraine I was experiencing. “Ugh, I’ll be fine.” I wiped my chin with the back of my hand. Fiona looked very worried, its been days since I had these syndromes. Dizzy spells are almost constantly, increase in appetite. Too bad I vomited the next second.
“I’m really worried Nor, you don’t look good at all. You’re awfully pale.” I placed my hand on my cheek, do I? Sure I feel horrible but its nothing I couldn’t stand. My feet wobbled and I steadied myself against the wall, thank god the sink was attached to it. “Nor!” She was by my side, clutching my arm. “Please go see the doctor, what will the pack think if their alpha female is in this kind of condition. You need it.” One of her most admirable traits was her certainty. She always knew what to do at desperate times. “I’ll go meet Fredrick soon when I visit Damon tomorrow. I promise.” Finally caving in.
“Nora?” I just realised that we were not alone in the bathroom.
“Leah?” I croaked, scanning her up and down before running to indulge her in my hold. “Leah! Where have you been?” As soon as Damon reached home he called me to tell me that Leah was gone. He took his eyes off her or a moment and she disappeared. They looked everywhere for her but no one seemed to be able to find her. I was starting to think my weakened state was because of over worrying. Anything could’ve happened to her and I would forever blame myself if something did.
“I went to Italy.” She mumbled. My eyes widen and gripped her arms unknowingly. “What do you mean?” I asked, looking into her eyes for confirmation. “Remember that I said I wanted to go somewhere before Damon and I left? I did.” She looked a little better but the hollowness still blatant. She looked lifeless, but satisfied somehow. I was stunned, she meant Italy? “You were unreachable, I called!” I did, so many times but none got a reply like she didn’t exist. Only yesterday I started to stop calling her because Hunter wanted me to start resting and stop worrying.
“Please don’t do it again. I swear my heart would explode if you did. Do you know how many times I tried to call you? Two months! At least twenty times a day!” She looked at me remorsefully, “I-I didn’t know.” She looked away. “I switched my phone off.” She played with her fingers and gasped. “Oh mind my manners! You haven’t met Fiona yet have you? This is um…Kenneth’s mate. The new beta.” I wanted to slap myself for being stupid! Why did I mention that? I really am an idiot. “Oh…nice to meet you.” Leah smiled and shook hands with Fiona, a smile on her face not reaching her eyes.
“Hi, I’m Fiona. Um, you must be Leah! I’ve heard so much about you!” Fiona beamed, a chirpy one. “Sure.” I took Leah’s hand and guided her to the bed thus sitting her down the bed. “Listen Leah, I’m going to Damon’s place tomorrow. Would you like to go with? Imagine how he feels about you leaving so abruptly.” I coaxed, maybe I can get Fredrick to help her somehow. “I don’t know…”
“He’s been worried ever since, can’t you spare him a little?” I narrowed my eyes in concern, these past two months we were bonding as siblings in a rapid pace. “I guess. Yea, I’ll follow.” I smiled brightly, a smile that’s short lived before I ran into the bathroom again and heaved again into the toilet bowl. “You need to stop it!” I scolded my stomach for being such a bitch. I can’t keep throwing up everything.
“Nora…can I ask you a question?” Leah stood at the entrance of the bathroom. “Sure honey, what is it?” She looked at me nervously. “When was your last period?” I thought about it for a while, “Last week. Why?” She looked at me again this time with confusion, now Fiona had the same look on her face. “How could it be…” Fiona asked, facing Leah. “I’m not sure now.” She replied, talking to her in a serious manner. “Hello? Ladies? I’m here!” Why are they talking like I’m not even there? “Care to explain? Anyone?” I raised a brow.
