'Never argue with someone who believes their own lies.'

The girl woke up to a room covered with bare, white walls.

Long, tubes of fluid were draped across the bed, all going in and out of her skin.

There were so many of them all across her body that it was as if they had tied her to the bed, unable to move without pulling out multiple tubes.

Her eyes darted across the room, and familiarization rushed through her.

The hospital gown was loose and baggy, feeling rough against her skin.

But what was she doing here?

Bitterness filled her dry mouth as the empty surroundings stared back at her.

The doctors had told her that she was fine, near recovery even, and had finally let her go back to her home.

The doctors had said that everything was going to back to the way it was, and she should be able to return to her normal life once again.

So she did.

And yet she found herself back in the same old room that had confined her in like a prison.

Why?

The answer was simple, really.

The doctors had lied.
