'A meaningless silence is better than meaningless words.'

The boy staggered, his feet nearly slipping.

Pieces of rock where his feet once laid crumbled below him as they toppled into the water.

Beneath him, the erratic, turbulent waves were crashing onto the sides of the cliff restlessly.

He stood still, a strange feeling he didn't know he had overtaking him.

Fear.

But why?

He had already been thinking about it for weeks, pacing across the room and going half mad over it.

There wasn't even anything else left in this life of his.

No, not life.

The right word would be existence.

He had only merely existed all this time.

And it would be a downright lie to say that he had actually lived.

But now, he could finally end it.

One step was all it would take for all the pain and anger to go away.

One step was all it would for his all his guilt and loneliness to fade away to leave him.

One step was all it would take to make the grief and heartache gnawing at his heart disappear.

One step was all it would take.

But would he take that step?
