'We don't meet people by accident. There are meant to cross our paths for a reason.'
There was a girl on the roof.
The boy had trudged up, completely lost within his own thoughts, and had found himself on the hospital rooftop.
He had no idea on how he had gotten up here, or why he had came up to the rooftop in the first place, for he had never had the thought to come up here before.
Up until now, it seems.
His mind was still and silent, as if it were stuck in place rigidly, and he was just as baffled as ever.
How on earth did he get up here?
He felt just like he always did after walking out of the hospital, a dark churn in his stomach and a hollow feeling inside him.
Like there was no place else for him to go.
But it was such a puzzlement on why he had half consciously climbed up a flight of stairs, to find himself on the rooftop of the hospital.
Moreover, he had never expected to find someone there with him.
Especially that girl right in front of him.
He was sure that he had seen her before, very vaguely, but enough for her to be recognisable, having seen her from his weekly trips to the hospital.
Now that he thought about it, she had always been there when he came by.
Always.
But he had never remembered her looking so. . . radiant.
Her whole body was shimmering, glowing like the piercing light of the sun.
Even with the tears were streaked on her face.
Even with the sadness rippling from her movements.
Even with her shaky breaths and the heavy silence she held.
Nevertheless, it was just that that had made her such a dazzling sight.
Her pale, white face was stained with glassy tears, her azure blue eyes brimming with overflowing emotions, and her outstretched arms were held out, as if trying to catch falling stars.
All of a sudden, he could hear music.
Melancholy and bittersweet music was filling the air, soft and sweet but carrying the strain of sorrow, echoing though his veins.
Mystified, he stepped forward, but the girl appeared to have heard not a trace of any sound.
Eyes widening, he walked towards the girl, reaching for her. . . and slipped.
The music stopped abruptly, and she turned around to look at him.
