have you ever thought
of all the hearts you've broken?
all the memories you've tinged
with bitterness.
do you think about the ties
you've cut?
the relationships
you've burned?
do you think
about how different
the world could've been for you
today
if you had chosen another path?
do you wonder
about the countless possibilities,
opportunities you've passed
because you were concerned
about something mediocre?
because if you do
you will learn.
you will learn to think
and analyse
and understand
before taking steps.
but if you regret
i will stop you.
regret is poison.
regret fills your head with
'what if's
it turns your eyesight
green.
it changes your mind.
it stops you from acting on impulse
it makes you stutter
and shift
and twiddle your thumbs.
do not regret.
because regret will kill you
slowly.
