...beep...beep...beep...beep...beep...beep...
Chuuya wished that incessant beeping would stop. It was hard enough to deal with the loud rasping noise that seemed to grate on his ears, but the regular beeping made him want to break the source into a million pieces. It hurt his head and he just wanted it to stop.
...beep...beep...beep...beep...beep...beep...
Every now and again he would hear voices that caused his head to pound as he tried to listen. He just wanted everything to go away and leave him in peace.
...beep...beep...beep...beep...beep...beep...
"..u..a,"
...beep...
"..u..ya,"
...beep...
"..uuya,"
...beep...
"Chuuya, can..u..ear ..e?"
...beep...
"Chuuya, can you hear me?"
...beep...
Chuuya opened his eyes slowly, his vision fuzzy.
"Oh, he's waking up,"
"Chuuya, do you know where you are?"
...beep...
"Can someone turn off that goddamn beeping? It's driving me insane..." Chuuya managed to mumble, though his voice felt raspy and his throat dry.
"I'm afraid we can't do that, Chuuya, you ask every time."
"Eh...?" Chuuya blinked and his vision began to clear a little, his focus resting on the faces of two doctors. It was only then that he began to realise where he was. The fact that he felt mostly numb and that his mouth and nose were covered with a mask. The fact there were various machines clustered around him. The fact that he felt like he couldn't move.
"How do you feel?" The doctor's asked as they removed the mask, happy that he was awake and breathing properly for himself.
"Just turn the beeping off so I can sleep." He muttered raspily, closing his eyes again.
"Chuuya, that's your heart rate monitor, we can't turn that off."
"Well I'm alive, so turn it off,"
"Chuuya, that's not possible," The doctor's replied gently, knowing the morphine, along with the other drugs, didn't exactly keep him in a stable frame of mind.
"I just want it off,"
The doctors sighed. "Chuuya you won't be sleeping anyway, we need to check you over now that you've woken up."
"Go away..."
Eventually, the doctors gave in and let him sleep, though they refused to turn off his heart rate machine for obvious reasons.
A few hours later he woke up again, feeling less groggy. "Eh? Oh...Corruption..." He recognised the familiar hospital room at a glance. "Guess I'd better get on with it..." He pressed the button that called a nurse, telling her to get the doctors when she arrived.
"Ah, so you're awake, are you?" The doctors said as they entered, causing Chuuya to nod.
"I hope I didn't cause too much trouble," He said, having heard about what he could be like as the anaesthetic began to wear off.
"Oh it was the same old 'turn the beeping off' and a refusal to listen to us," They chuckled. "It's perfectly normal."
"Well, let's just get this over with so I can get back to my day-to-day life." Chuuya groaned as he sat up, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed. "Alright, do your stuff,"
