Icebound

Chapter 10

Meanwhile, Cassie and her group of volunteers reached the north mountain. They spotted the ice castle and knew instantly that it was where Reginald was hiding.

"We're here to find Prince Aiden, but no harm is to come to the king," Cassie told her group.

While the other people agreed that they would not harm Reginald, Torquedawg's followers looked at each other. The two henchmen nodded their heads, remembering to follow Torquedawg's secret order to kill Reginald.

Cassie pulled out an enchanted diamond axe and started to walk up to the stair case that led to Reginald's ice castle, but suddenly, the sound of rumbling came. The mutant snow golem that Reginald made to chase Aiden, Maya, and Gill came out, and it started to attack Cassie and her group.

Cassie and her group did their best to defend themselves from the mutant snow golem, but that's when Cassie saw Torquedawg's henchmen slip away. They were running up to the staircase, where up at the castle, Reginald saw what was going on. He slammed the doors shut and rushed back inside.

"Come on! We have to stop those two!" Cassie told her group.

She swung her diamond axe at the mutant snow golem and damaged it, but that seemed to anger the mutant snow golem.

Torquedawg's men reached the doors. One of them kicked the doors down, and the two stormed Reginald's castle.

Reginald was already hurrying upstairs, but one of the henchmen saw him rushing upstairs.

"Up there! Let's kill him!" said the one that spotted him.

Reginald heard the henchman speak. He panicked and picked up the pace, but he didn't have anywhere else to run when he reached the upstairs room. He turned around to see the henchmen aim their bows and arrows at him.

"No! Please!" Reginald cried.

One of them fired their arrow at Reginald. Reginald flinched, expected to get shot. But he opened his eyes and saw that an ice wall came up, protecting him from the arrow. He figured that he had no choice but to use his powers to defend himself.

"Stay away from me!" Reginald shouted.

He quickly used his powers to shoot some more magic at one of the henchmen, which caused the guy to drop his bow and arrows. Reginald quickly used his powers to trap the henchman with some icy walls, and began to use another one to push him to the balcony. Now the henchman was trapped, with only a drop to the ground below.

But Reginald didn't forget about the other one, he quickly shot another blast at the other henchman. Icy spikes formed, not impaling the henchman, but keeping him pinned to the wall so that he couldn't come after Reginald.

Back outside, Cassie and her group managed to knock the mutant snow golem off of the cliff, but it suddenly grabbed Cassie and pulled her down with it. Thinking quickly, Cassie pulled out an ender pearl and used it to teleport back up to the castle. She just barely made it back up, but one of the other group members grabbed her hand and pulled her back up.

Once she was back on firm footing, Cassie ran into the castle. She rushed upstairs, where she witnessed Reginald using his powers to defend himself from Torquedawg's henchmen.

"King Reginald! Don't be the monster that they fear you are!" cried Cassie.

That made Reginald freeze in fear. He turned to face Cassie with a horrified look on his face. He was stunned to hear what Cassie just said.

'A... a monster? Is that what I am, because I froze my kingdom? Because of the powers I possess? Because I hurt my brother unintentionally?!' he thought.
