Chapter-5 No Answer

I am rolling on my bed. I still have no answer for the questions. Why did I say yes. Why am I so curious to know his secrets. I am suppose to start next week. It's saturday today.

I was about to fall asleep but some one banging on my door made me wide awake. I rolled my eyes cause I know exactly who it is. I haven't heard from either of my best friends since the day of my interview which was last Thursday. But I did mention about getting the job on our group chat but left out the details.

'What?' I exclaimed as soon as I opened the door. As I saw the two clowns all my anger vanished they are actually dressed up as clowns with stethoscope.

'Congratulations!' Both said on top of their lungs. I swear all my neighbors know both of these idiots. They are usually loud.

'Thankyou, but where is my gift?' They never forget to gift me with every accomplishment I had. My teal stethoscope to my favourite books of medicine are mostly gifted by them. They have been there for me throughout my journey.  My internship to residency to this success I have always found them by my side.

'Tadaaaa' A cake. Not just a cake. Black forest!

'What? Why?' I asked in confusion. This is the first time they ever gifted me something that isn't related to medicine.

'So you don't eat your favorite black forest cake on you first day in the job. By the way do we get a tour in your hospital like last times?' Kate asked with excitement clearly visible on her face. She happens to love the antiseptic smell of the hospitals. I know she is a bit crazy.

'Actually that might take a few years!' I dont know how to explain them this without lying.
' I am helping. We are helping each other.' This is difficult than I thought. 'He wants to build one hospital and I am helping he wants to give me shares and a place in the board of members. I know its crazy. But this is happening.'

'Why ain't you so excited about it?' Chloe always knows when something is wrong how the hell does she do that?

'I don get to cut' its true! Im still not aware of what I am suppose to do on my first day at work.

'Omg! The less you cut the less you kill. Win win' Kate said rolling her eyes. I just laughed it off. I noticed Chloe still staring at me. As if she is digging my brain. Dammit why is she so good at reading me. Why is it easy for everybody! Well except Kate. Thats when I realized we are still standing by the door.

'Do you guys prefer outside?' I asked, pretty sure they haven't realized it either.

After we settled inside the house we ate the cake while watching a movie. They all had a sleep over as tomorrow is a Sunday.

While lying on the bed we were all discussing the movie when suddenly Kate asked me something.

'What is he like?' It was out of nowhere

'He?' I knew exactly who she is referring to but don't want to make it too obvious that I have been thinking about him all through the movie too. Comparing him with the male protagonist.

'Your new boss. Dylan Henderson. Heyyyyy wait. It is very alike don't you think? Anderson Henderson. Wow if you marry him you still get to keep half of your surname.' Kate said while laughing so hard that tears were rolling down her eyes. Same with Chloe.

'He is nice. Good listener. Very handsome. The pictures do not justice to the actual color of his eyes. Its like an ocean.' I felt like that ocean eyes were in front of me.

'Lexie?' Chloe poked me suspiciously. Clearly with a mocking smile visible on her face.

'A bit arrogant though. I still have many question. About the site of the hospital and many stuffs.' I'm clearly angry at him for not sharing. More angry that I do understand why he can't share it.

'Mmhmmm. Don't tell me he is already piercing through your heart with those 'ocean' eyes.' Chloe said mockingly. Emphasizing more on the ocean.

'Laugh as much as you want. But this is a start for a whole new career.' This is the start for the successful year. I have got student loans to pay too. This year will be blessed. This is my new beginning. A step forward. Yes thats the reason for accepting this. A step toward a successful career. Am I convincing my self. Because I desperately want to know his secret. I closed my eyes despite the fact that both my best friends were still talking to each other. I hope I just wake up on Monday. Never wanted to go to work so much. Never wanted to sign a contract so badly.
