I pull Shannon up to the playground and immediately scold her.

"Shannon, you could have told me it was Sam who was doing this, like are you kidding me!? You know I don't like him"

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry it's just... He came to me and asked for help and he seemed sweet and it was so hard to say no to him I mean just look at him" We both glance over to him. He's standing by the candles, staring up at us with hopeful eyes.

"Ugh, I can't say yes!"

"C'mon Reg, what's the worst that could happen? You have to admit that he's gorgeous and this was so sweet and you've only really heard rumors and judged him by what you see or whatever. He could be nice, just say yes" I roll my eyes and think for a second before I walk back towards Sam.

"Okay, this was nice and I'm only saying yes because I don't have any other date yet, but listen closely, I do not have feelings for you, and I never will. We'll go to homecoming together, we can ride to Cameron's after party together and after that things are going back to normal, got it?" He nods his head in agreement, but something tells me he doesn't actually agree.

Just as I'm about to sit in my car to head home for the day, Sam stops me.

"So have you picked out a dress? Because we have to match and I'm wearing white & red" He's blocking me from getting in my car so I have to talk to him.

"Well I'm wearing light blue so we're gonna have to do something about that" I stare at him blankly. There's no way I'm changing my color.

"Well in case you didn't hear the color scheme to match the theme this year is red & white or red & black, so unless you want to look dumb we're gonna have to shop for something new" I roll my eyes, of course they'd make a color scheme after I've already bought a blue dress. Why can't we just wear what we want? Lame.

"Ok well I'll return the blue one, and get a different one but there will be no 'we' involved in this dress shopping, now can you please move?" I try pushing his arm but it just tenses up.

"Well I guess I'm walking home" I turn to walk but again, he blocks me.

"Oh c'mon I have nothing else to do and I just want to know what you get so that we can properly match"

"Well I'll send you a picture" I try to swiftly slip past him to my door, but his arm blocks me once again. I'm starting to get frustrated at this point.

"Fine Sam, get in"

I love shopping so I guess that makes the situation a little more bearable.

I try on about a million red dresses and Sam makes a pervy remark about pretty much every single one.

At this one store in the mall, I find a long, flowy strapless dress that looks absolutely perfect. They have one left in my size so I snatch it up and head for the dressing room.

I slip the dress on and look at myself in the mirror and I don't think I've ever felt more gorgeous. The dress compliments my body perfectly, but it's not over the top or anything. It's definitely the one. I walk out of the dressing room to get Sam's opinion, even though his opinion won't influence my decision anyways.

"Woah" He says when I step out of the room.

"Woah what?"

"That has to be the one you look really, really pretty" He says putting the emphasis on the really and not taking his eyes off of me.

"Oh, um well okay I like it too. I'm gonna' get it" I don't really know what else to say, I'm kind of taken aback by his reaction. That's the first time that he's said something that's not about my legs or ass, the first time he's said something genuinely nice.

I pay for the dress and we leave. When we're in the car, curiosity hits me.

"Sam?" I turn down the music in the car and wait for him to reply.

"Yeah?"

"Why did you ask me to homecoming? And why have you been bothering me so much? I mean you've never had a thing for me before so like why now?" He looks at me and doesn't answer for a minute.

"How do you know I've never had a thing for you?" He smirks and before I can ask him anything else we arrive at his house, and he gets out of the car as fast as he can so that I can't say anything.

He winks and mouths through the window "See you at school babe" and walks away.

I really don't know what to think about today.
