The way she felt when she danced, it made her feel powerful, strong, unstoppable. But she knew if anyone found out about this her whole career and future would be on the line. That's why she had to keep this a secret, no one could know about this. Not her parents, not her boyfriend, not even her best friend. No this was her dirty little secret and she intended to keep it that way.
The song ended and she made her way off the stage. Jim, the owner of the nightclub, was walking towards her with a smile on his face. Jim has always had a thing for her but she would never mix business with pleasure plus he is too old for her.
"Amazing as always, Jen. You know, you should really let me take you out on that date." He said with his signature smirk.
"I already told you Jimmy. I don't mix business with pleasure. You should try that on some of the new girls in here. You have known me long enough to know I won't budge." She keep walking past him, chuckling as he drops the smirk and it's replaced by annoyance.
She kept walking until she entered the room where all the girls changed before each set. She set down at her small vanity and started to fix her make up.
She's a burlesque dancer. Nothing made her feel more alive than when she was on her stage showing off her sexy confidence.
Jen was not always a dancer. She was stressing over money issues when one night; freshman year, she got bored, went out, and ended up at Nightcap.
She was so mesmerized. The girls were so sexual and confident, she wanted to be on that stage and was determined to make it happen. So, that night Jen went back to her dorm room, did some research, and practiced her ass off. A month later she went back to audition and she had been working here ever since.
Now, do not get her wrong. Jen does not see anything wrong with it and she doesn't take her clothes off. But if anyone from school found out, she knew her school career and future would be at stake or worse completely over. So to prevent that from happening, she changed her name here and wore a wig, even different color contacts. She wanted to remain as unrecognized as possible if anybody she knew happened to walk into the club and so far it's worked. It's also a plus the club was about an hour away from were she went to school.
She was about to change when she heard her cell ring from inside her duffel bag, pulling it out she see's that it's her boyfriend Tuck.
"Hey baby. What's up?" She pick up sweetly.
"I thought we had a date tonight? It's already 8:30 and we were suppose to be at the restaurant at fucking 8." He said with annoyance clear in his voice.
"Oh shit. I'm sorry. I got caught up in studying at a classmates house. I'll call you when I'm on the way! I'm leaving now. " She said while rolling her eyes. She liked Tuck but sometimes he can be a real asshole.
"Don't worry about it, I'm leaving. Call me tomorrow." He says hanging up the phone abruptly.
Asshole. Not likely.
I think it's about time for a relationship evaluation because I'm so over his ass. She thought to herself, while shaking her head.
She was starting to change when she heard Nicole, their bartender, call to her.
"Hey Jen, there's a guy out here who wants to meet you. " She said with a shrug.
Confusion and panic was written all over her face because she didn't have a possible clue as to who would want to meet her. Her heart started to race as she prayed it wasn't someone she knew. If anyone found out, she was dead. Stick a fork in her and call her done.
"Umm okay, be out in a sec," She told her hesitantly.
She turned and looked into the mirror to make sure she was presentable and once she liked what she saw, she walked out of the room.
She made her way to the bar. She tried getting Nicole's attention but it looked like it was no use, more people had came into the club and the bar was getting busy. Just as She was about to get up and leave she heard a smooth velvet voice.
"Hello my name is Matthew Bowden, and I must say you really do know how to put on a show. I have a business proposal for you."
Matthew watched as the girl he had watched for months stared at him with no shame, she looked like she couldn't believe her eyes. He couldn't help the smirk that formed on his face.
She was so stunned by the face that the voice came of. There stood a 6'4' Greek God with the most mesmerizing green eyes. She was pretty sure she had been staring for awhile because there was a smirk on his mouth as he stared right back at her.
"Like what you see?" Arrogance was evident in his voice.
"Cocky, aren't we? I might like what I see but that's about it. Mind telling me what you want?" She said quickly and just as cocky as him.
If he thought his smart ass charm was gonna get her, he had another thing coming.
"Feisty. I see. Very well. You see miss--what's your name?" he asked when she didn't respond.
"My name is not important, continue please." She responded smoothly.
He chuckled before finishing, "You see Miss, I want to start my own Burlesque club. After months of watching you. I would like to know if you're interested in becoming my first dancer and business partner?"
Shocked was what she was. This man, whom was clearly in his late twenties and an obvious business man. Is here asking a girl he doesn't even know to become a partner with him. There has to be a catch.
"Sorry if I sound a bit rude here but you don't even know me nor do I know you so why are you offering me a proposal as if you do?" She said suspiciously.
"Because I know you're secret and if you want it to remain a secret then you will take the offer, otherwise I will tell your school what I know." He replied seriously as he leaned in closer to keep the conversation between us.
She felt her whole world stop as his words sunk in. How could he have known? She swear she covered her tracks perfectly. She couldn't let this happen, she just couldn't. She worked too hard for this man she barely knew to try to mess it up. She was a few months away from graduation and her new life. Anger was all she could see as she said her next words.
"I have no idea what you're talking about Mr. Bowden, now if you'll excuse me I'll be leaving now."
As she went to turn her back, he grabbed her wrist and said, "Are you sure you want to do that Samantha Winters?"
