Things were going just fine. Megan and Bowden were hitting it off. Being the charming bastard Bowden was he had Megan eating out the palm of his hand the minute they set foot into Samantha's apartment. The club hadn't been brought up and for that Sam was glad. Bowden was keeping his mouth shut when it came to business and his line of work whenever Megan tried to ask him about his job.

Sam would join the conversation every now and then but she mostly kept quiet. She didn't want Bowden here and she wasn't going to pretend like she did. And since she was ignoring half the party she was drinking the wine Megan brought like it was water. Sam knew she had a slight buzz going on but she didn't care. This night couldn't get any worse. The man of her nightmares was charming the pants off her classmate. Tonight was supposed to be a night of light fun with a friend not feeling like a third wheel.

"What else could go wrong tonight?" Sam mumbled to herself.

At that precise moment her doorbell rung. Samantha put down her wine glass and made her way to the front door. She wondered who else could make an surprised visit today. Looking through the peephole, she felt her eyes grow as wide as saucers.

"This CAN'T be happening!" she whispered/yelled.

On the other side of the door were her parents! Out of all days they choose today to come visit her! What could they possibly have to tell her. The only time her parents came to visit was when they had big news to tell her.

Samantha paused and decided she needed to clam down so she took a couple deep breaths.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Okay. She felt calm enough, she opened her front door ready to get whatever news they had over with and get everyone out her home. Today defiantly didn't turn out the way she wanted it too.

"Sammy sweetheart! We've missed you babygirl." Was the first thing out of her fathers' mouth as he held out his arms for a hug.

Smiling at her fathers words, she immediately went into his open arms. Despite her wanting to get rid of everyone in her apartment, she'd missed her parents.

"Daddy, mommy, what are guys doing here? It's late!" She chastised her parents.

"Now is that anyway to treat the people who drove two hours just to come see their only daughter?" Samantha's mother chastised her back.

"I'm sorry mommy. Come in, I have company but they are about to leave."

"Samantha who's at the door?" Bowden came around the corner asking.

Before she could answer she was cut off by the hardness in her fathers voice as the next words came out his mouth.

"What the hell are you doing here?!" my father screamed.

She jumped back from the force and confusion quickly took over me.

"You KNOW him?" Sam asked her parents.

"Of course we know him. He's the reason on why we are here! What lies has this man told you Samantha?" Her mother spoke up and her father stood next to her, his chest moving rapidly as he tried to calm down and by the looks of it he wasn't anytime soon.

Samantha was getting more and more confused by the minute and slowly getting angry as well. Finally ready to get the answers she wants, she called Megan out the kit he and told her it was time to go home and she'd see her in class. Once she left, Sam turned to the three people left in her apartment who had a hell of a lot of explaining to do.

"Okay let's move this lovely reunion to the living room shall we?" Sam said walking towards her living room not really giving anyone a choice.

Once everyone finally came in she mentioned them to sit.

"Now. I'm only gonna say this once. I want the truth and I want the truth from EVERYONE, got it?" she asked in the calmest voice she could come up with.

Everyone responded with an okay.

"Ok. So mom, dad? How do you know Mr. Bowden?"

Her mother was the first to speak up because from the looks of it her father was one word away from exploding. Bowden sat over on the love-seat, this was the most she had seen him this quiet; and for the she was getting scared of what might come out of her parents mouth.

"We met Mr. Bowden when he came to the house about three months ago. He was about you and your whereabouts and of course we told him we didn't know him and wouldn't tell him anything. For weeks he kept coming back and we kept ignoring him. He knew things about you that we thought were left in the past." She spoke so calmly Samantha was beyond scared.

"Left in the past? Mom what things are you talking about?" Her voice slightly shook.

Sam was petrified of what was going to come out of her mouth.

"Sweetheart before I say this, I want you to know from the bottom of my heart I love you and you will always be my daughter, okay?"

"Mom you are seriously making my scared. Please just tell me and get it over with."

"Okay when I was 18 I found out I wasn't able to have kids. Something about my uterus not being strong enough to hold my eggs. I was working at this shabby dinner at the time and it was own by a real bad guy but times was hard and I needed the money. One day while I was working a young lady came in and she was in labor. Turns out the bad guy who owned the place had gotten her pregnant but because he was married her pregnancy was kept a secret. Fed up with being kept in the shadows when she went into labour she decided she would have the child at his diner in front of everyone so they'd know it was his and she did. Let me tell you it started a lot of drama.

The wife found out and told him get rid of her and the baby. So he came to me not wanting to get rid of his flesh and blood and asked me to take care of the baby. Raise it like it was my own, he knew of my illness and from working there he knew I'd be the perfect mother for the child. So when he asked I without a doubt said yes." Sam mother looked up from her hands. She has been staring at them the whole time she was talking. It was something she did when she was nee out.

Tears were running down Sam's face by then as she slowly tried to comprehend what her mother said.

"I'm adopted?"

Samantha was speechless.
