Another Fish in the Sea (Embry Call)

Introduction

Ursula is the product of a human and a mermaid. Her mother saved her father from drowning and fell in love with him. Her mother imprinted on her father and shortly after, they were married on land. Everything was going well until her mother discovered she was pregnant with Ursula. Her father was offered a job close to the ocean and her mother decided to have her pregnancy in the water while he worked. Unfortunately however, tragedy struck and he was killed in a freak accident at work. Due to the imprint bond her mother felt it and never returned to the surface.

Growing up as a hybrid, Ursula was smaller than the other mermaids and had the ability to switch between land and see without any difficulty. One day while her mother and the rest of their school were out swimming she accidentally got caught up in a wave that pushed her towards land. When she surfaced to see where she was she noticed she was near some cliffs, she heard some children shouting from one of the lower cliffs and felt something brush against her tail. Diving back into the water she spotted a boy around her age slowly sinking. Something about him called out to her. So, she grabbed him and pulled him into one of the caves at the bottom of the cliffs. She had seen some of the sailors fall into the water and when they would come out they coughed out water. She stared at the boy and waited for him to start coughing, but he never did. So, Ursula did what she saw the sailors do, and proceeded to bang harshly onto his chest and let out a yell. After doing this two more times she stopped and waited. This time the boy coughed and sputtered. She decided that this would be a good time to hide back in the water.

The boy sat up and coughed some more water out and after catching his breathe he looked around the cave bewildered. From the entrance to the cove he heard a splash and wondered over. By the time he got there the splashes were coming from the left side of the cave entrance. He followed the splashes until he got to a series of uneven rocks on the side of the cliff. It was the path that would lead him back up to where his friends were. He turned around once more and saw a black tail dive into the water.

Hi Guys! just to clarify some things, the reason that she went back into the water after the boy started coughing was because she didn't want to expose herself to him. Also the time that this happened she was about eight years old, due to her being a hybrid she ages like a human.
