Another Fish in the Sea (Embry Call)

Chapter 9

Embry and Ursula were awoken early the next morning to a loud howl piercing the air. Embry awoke with a jump and shook Ursula awake.

"Ursula, wake up! They found a leech. Let's go!" Ursula's eyes popped open and she rolled off the bed and jumped up and ran into the bathroom in the hall. She came back with two glasses of mouth wash. She also had a ponytail so her hair wouldn't get in the way while she ran.

"Let's go Embry! Hurry up!!" She took off running down the stair and out the back door. Embry followed shortly after and phased once he hit the tree line. They took off running towards the howl and thankfully the rest of the pack gave him directions. Once they met up with the rest of the pack, minus Jacob who had been on patrol the night before, they saw the read head. Rage filled Ursula's mind and she could feel the mermaid side start to come to the surface. Her eyesight became much clearer, she could hear things twice as far as normal, and her speed had boosted her to the front of the pack.

"Embry, what's going on with Ursula?" Jared was up front with her and through his eyes they could see that her hair had changed from the cool black color to its oil slicked color it was in the water. They could see the outline of scales coming to the surface of her skin protecting the vital parts of her body like a shield. Jared caught a glimpse of her hands and saw that her nails had grown a solid inch and were now sharp as razors and pointed. "Are you guys seeing this?"

"Seriously dude, what's going on with her??" Paul was worried about his best friend. Even when they had their fights she had never changed like this.

"She said her human form is a disguise for while she's on land to blend in. I think that might be her, uh, mermaid side? I guess you could call it." Embry wasn't even sure what was going on with his imprint.

Ursula was closing in on the Red Head and decided to lunge at her. She managed to tackle her to the ground and started wrestling with her. She had managed to put some cracks in her armor like skin and was in the middle of trying to rip her arm from her body. The pack caught up quickly and stared in shock at the scene in front of them. Ursula had both hands wrapped around the Red Heads wrist and was pulling while she screamed in pain. She also had one foot on her torso and one on her other arm to keep her from moving.

"Embry what should we do? She looks like she has a decent handle on this." Sam had spoken up. He wanted Embry to decide since it was his imprint and Victoria had taken so much from her. A scream broke their concentration and they looked to see Ursula being kicked off the leech. Jared and Paul responded first and took off running after the leech.

"You guys take care of Ursula! We got the leech!"

Embry ran over to Ursula still in wolf form and nudged her with his nose. She pushed herself up and the wound on her forehead from hitting the tree was closing on its own. She let out a growl and pushed herself off the ground. She swayed a bit when she first stood up and moved to take off running in the direction of Jared and Paul. Embry stood in front of her and shook his large head,

"The others are coming back now, Embry. We should go get Jake and let him know what happened."

After Sam said that, Paul and Jared came back to where the three of them stood with disappointment on their faces.

"We chased her for a while, but she got away. She must have hit a river or something because we lost the scent."

"It's okay Jared. We're going to Jakes now. Let's go'"

Embry lowered himself down so that Ursula could ride on his back for most of the way to Jakes. Once they were about a mile away from Jakes, Ursula hopped off Embrys back and waited for the boys to turn back. Embry was the first to shift back and he placed his hands on her shoulders and turned her around so she didn't face the boys.

"Boundaries remember Ursula?" She rolled her eyes even though no one could see. Her adrenaline was starting to fade and she was slowly returning back to her human form.

By the time they reached the treeline she was back to normal and was on Embry's back getting a piggy back ride. Her and Paul were whooping and hollering for Jake to come out. Instead of Jake however, a pale girl with long brown hair stepped out of the house. She angrily approached the pack as Ursula slid off Embry's back.

She approached Paul with a look of rage on her face.

"What did you do to him, huh? What did you do??" Sam saw where this was going and quickly put his hand on Paul's chest to push him back.

"What did we do?? What did he tell you?"

"He didn't want this!" The girl said stepping closer to Paul.

"Both of you need to calm down!" Sam was attempting to diffuse the situation.

"Nothing! He tells me nothing because he's scared of you guys!" The boys and Ursula laughed at her statement. That must have been the wrong thing to do because the next thing Ursula knew, the pale girl had slapped Paul across the face. Ursula could hear Jared say something along the lines of it being too late now from beside her. Paul started shaking and breathing heavily. His skin rippled in a way so painful it even hurt to look at. Sam looked at Bella with a panicked expression,

"Bella get back! Paul, you need to calm down now!" Sam's words had little effect on Paul. At this point his veins popping out all over his body and the shaking had increased.

"Bella!" Bella turned around to see Jake running out the back door of his house and looked over her shoulder finally deciding to run from Paul.

"Jake! Run!" Bella cried out for Jake to run away from whatever was happening to Paul but all Jake did was burst into.... A giant wolf? Bella's head was spinning. Before Jake could even hit Paul, the girl that had been standing next to Embry the whole time lunged at him. Jake wound up tackling both of them and all three of them started fighting. Bella could see flashes of scales on the girl as well as talons for nails. Even from where Bella stood she could see the girls neon green eyes glow. The fight moved its way into the forest.

"You guys take Bella back to Emily's place!" Sam turned around and ran into the woods. Presumably to stop the three from fighting.

"Guess the wolfs out of the bag huh?" Embry said looking back at the tree line. Jared smirked and looked over at Embry while getting into Bella's truck,

"Yea and I guess the fish is out of the tank."

Bella's officially found out about the pack! She also has seen Ursula, how do you think she's going to react to her being a mermaid? How will Ursula react to Bella? I have a couple ideas on how I want Ursula to react to Bella ;) Decisions, decisions.
