Chapter 22

"why are we going to this stupid party anyway? Jake was uninvited!" Ursula groaned while laying on Embry's bed.

"Because Jake's mad and wants to be a drama queen. Besides, he's my brother I have to be there for him." Embry explained as he threw a dress and a pair of sandles at her.

"Okaaaaay, but why do I have to go?" She questioned, "I hate them and the little one triggers my sight just by making eye contact with me. And they stink, and their cold, and they have creepy eyes." As she ranted about her hatred of vampires she sat up and let the sheets fall down and expose her body. Embry laughed while he pulled up his boxers that had been thrown into a random corner of the room,

"Because La, you need to get out of the house and do human things sometimes!"

"I do!" She exclaimed loudly.

"Oh yea? What do you do?"

"I go watch the water!" Embry buttoned up the jeans he had just put on and shook his head,

"No Ursula, you watch the sailors, which is equally as weird. They have a bad influence on you."

"Fuck you! No they don't!" Ursula laughed at the irony of the words she spoke. Embry had turned around to grab his shirt off the ground and now stood shirtless in front of her. She licked her lips starring at him, "We could bail and have some more fun?"

"Get dressed Ursula"

"Party pooper"

Arriving at the Cullens home with the boys Ursula took in the vampires home before scoffing,

"They really know how to make a home look homey" She remarked sarcastically at all of the items placed carefully around the house in an organized fashion. It looked like a show house. Wrinkling her nose she saw a woman starring at her with shock. The woman had caramel hair and honey colored eyes with a heart shaped face and stood next to a man with the same colored eyes and light blonde hair. He was taller than her with an equally kind face. There was something about the woman that was familiar to her though, like she had seen her somewhere before.

"Be nice, Ursula! Don't start something just because you don't like them. Then you'd be acting like Paul."

"Is that a bad thing?" She questioned before strutting off towards the couple.

"Hello! You must be Ursula? Bella told us about you! As did our daughter Alice." The man smiled pleasantly at her, "My name is Carlisle and this is my wife Esme-"

"Platt." She spoke the last name flatly. Recognizing the woman from the large painting in her Uncles office. Esme looked shocked from hearing her old name, and Carlisle also looked surprised, "My uncle still has the painting of you in his office. As well as pictures from the wedding and from the short time you were together. He hasn't even touched another woman since your heart stopped beating." She glared at the couple coldly, "Yet here you are shacked up with a 'doctor', was my uncle's love not enough for you? Was him abandoning his family not enough? Giving up his place in the Elders not enogh for you?" Esme had glossy eyes and looked as though she might cry if she could. Ursula's glare was cruel as she spoke her last sentence,"I suppose he was as replaceable as the child you lost." She glared in the direction of the Cullens adopted children seeing them gathered and openly starring at the trio. Her eyes glowed wickedly and she turned on her heel with a smile and walked back to her imprint.

"What were you talking to the doc and the misses about?"

"Nothing important" She said with a smile as she wrapped her arms tightly around his waist.

"Whatever you say La, whatever you say."

The boys and Ursula had wondered over to where the Cullens were huddled after they had heard them talking about Victoria. They struggled to keep up with what they were talking about until they heard something about a new born army.

"Hold up! What damn army?" Jake growled out.

"New borns, our kind" Carlsisle explained. Embry and Quil looked at each other confused while Ursula listened quietly.

"What are they after?"

"They were passing arond a red bluse, Bella's scent'' Alice recounted what she saw from her vision.

"So they are after Bella? what the hell does this mean?" Jake spat out angry at the thought of Bella being hurt by more vampires.

"It means an ugly fight, with lives lost" The Cullen patriarch replied/

"All right, we're in." Jake said firmly

"What? No!" Bella protested, "You'll get youselves killed!"

"He wasn't asking for permission, Snackie" Ursula replied sharply. Knowing that no matter what the out come of this was that the wolves would be fighting.

"Jake, do you think that Sam would come to some kind of understanding?" Jake and the boys smirked and looked down at Ursula,

"As long as we get to kill some vampires" She replied looking at Embry when she said the we portion, making it known that she would also be fighting.

"Jasper?"

They'll give us an advantage, the newborns won't even know that they exsist."

"We'll all need some training that Jasper can provide. He has expirience dealing with newborns." Carlisle looked at the group with a pleasnat smile, "You're welcome to join us."

"All right, name the time and the place."

"Jake, you don't know what your getting yourself into!" bella pleaded with him. Jake looked at her coldly,

"Bella.... this is what we do.." He trailed off before Ursula spoke up,

"You should be happy, look at us. Working together!" A sarcastic grin on her face,

"You are the one who wanted us to get along, remember?"Jake finished.

The wolves met up with the vapires twice and both times came in their wolf forms. This time they came as humans to allow the Cullens to get both their human and wolf scents.

"Where's Ursula?" The burly vampired named Emmett asked, "She owes me a rematch!" The previous time they met the large vampire had pissed her off by saying she needed more training. Needless to say, the situation ended badly for the vampire.

"She'll be here soon. She said she had business to take care of." They started training and five minutes later Ursula came out of the woods into the clearing.

"The hillbilly has taught you all how to fight against newborns and that's fine and dandy. But now it's my turn kids." A wicked smirk came over her face and the vampires cringed when they heard her best friend whimper,

''I hate it when she gets that smirk."

Coming out of the woods behind her was a tall man that Esme knew very well.

"Jaxel" she breathed his name and the rest of the Cullens and Bella looked at him in shock.

"I go by Flounder now, doll"
