Walking down the dusty castle halls eventually took it's toll. Sometimes I swore I was going crazy from the isolation. Every day, the conversation I had with SlenderMan replayed itself in my head. He was lonely, so was I.
"So why does he leave me here by myself?", I shouted and kicked the wall. Ouch. Yeah, that wasn't a very smart thing to do. I grumbled and half limped to the main hall. As it was night time, it was very dark and spooky. Sadly, I was used to it.
I curled up onto a moth eaten couch and let my thoughts wander. It was pointless to escape, I knew he would just find me. 'Do I even want to leave anymore?', said a sly voice in my head. My own, of course. 'Of course I do!', I told it back. 'Why wouldn't I?' I couldn't answer that. I sighed, and rolled over so I was facing the ominous entrance doors.
Suddenly The SlenderMan popped in, unannounced of course. He seemed very distraught for some reason, but I didn't have the slightest clue why. "Are you okay?", I asked him. He started walking away from me, and up the stairs. "Hey! Wait!", I yelled as I started running after him. Suddenly, he turned around and faced me. "What do you want?", he growled. I stopped dead in my tracks. Somehow, his harshness hurt worse than before. "You-you seem off", I said quietly.
He stepped forward to me and I saw his tentacles sliding threateningly out of his back. "Why do you care about how I feel, you stupid human girl?" My emotions started to boil over. Suddenly, I didn't care he was so much more powerful than me; I was mad. "Because...because if you're going to keep me stuck here you need to start remembering you have a prisoner!"
All my anger and frustration at him rushed out and I couldn't stop it. "You can't just forget me! I don't know who or what you are, but we human beings need a little something called social interaction! And you've isolated me! You've kept me away from all my friends and family and you don't even care! You leave me and even when you are here, you hardly stay a minute!" I'm not sure why, but tears stared flowing fast. "So the least you can do is let me help you with your problems, or whatever! There's nothing else to do in this dungeon!!" I shouted the last word with every ounce of disgust I could muster.
I stood there shaking and sobbing, trying to recapture my breath. The SlenderMan just stood there unmoving, staring down at me. His tentacles had retreated to wherever they go, and his threatening demeanor had vanished. "Why didn't you say this before?", he said, sounding astonished. I sunk down, and sat on the floor. "Would you have even listened?", I whispered quietly.
He paused, then squatted down so he could look me face to face. "Yes", he said. I still refused to look at him. He slid his fingers under my chin and lifted it so we looked each other square in the face. "Yes, I would have."
