MERLINS POV
When we get back to Camelot, it is dark. Arthur reported to the king and I got him ready for bed.
I wake up early. It's dark, really dark. My bed is soft, really soft, softest thing I ever felt. That's strange. Usually it's stiff and occasionally scratchy. I squint in the dark trying to figure out where I am because I'm clearly not in my bed.
As I sit up, I hear a scream. That's strange. It sounded like Arthur.
I make my way to the edge of the bed to stand up. Then I creep my way along the wall until I feel the fabric of a curtain. I slowly drag it back, so my eyes don't get flooded with light.
I turn back to the room and see that it's Arthur's. How in Avalon did I get in here? I didn't sleep in here. At least, I don't think I did.
As I'm about to leave, the door swings wide-open. A person that looks a lot like myself bounds on in yelling, "Merlin, you imbecile of an idiot."
"Ummm. Who are you? Why do you look like me?"
"Who am I, Mer-lin? I'm arthur, you idiot. As for why I look like you and you look like me, I don't know."
"What?" I walk over to the full-size mirror in the corner to see that I look like Arthur. I scream.......loudly. "What happened?"
"I told you, I don't know. I bet it was that sorceress. We shouldn't have let her live." He tells me with an expression saying that no matter what I say it's not going to help.
I can try though, "Arthur, maybe it wasn't her."
He looks at me like I'm stupid, "Of course! It was!"
"Okay, okay. Maybe she had a reason. I mean we're unharmed and she gave us some information...."
Arthur cuts me off, "Information?! You call that...that riddle she gave use information!? You're ridiculous!"
I look at him with disbelief, "I'm ridiculous?! What about you mister oh-so-perfect? You just go around blaming everyone for everything especially me, and I'm done with it. Grow up!"
Arthur looks like he's about to punch me. "You're the one who needs to grow up! I'm a prince! I had to grow up fast! You didn't! You know why? Because you're a pathetic, scrawny village boy who hasn't had to have a real worry ever in his life! You constantly follow me because you're too pathetic to have a life of your own and have to live as my shadow except for when you are getting wasted in the tavern and aren't there to do your job for days on end. I should have fired you years ago, but I haven't because I pity how incompetent you are. You'd never make it in this world without me because you're useless, and that's all you are ever going to be."
Well, it felt like a punch. Actually, several punches. To the face. Ouch.
I start to cry but still respond, "Glad to know you think of me that way. I'll resign as soon as I get back into my own body. Have a good day."
I turn and walk out as Arthur says, "Merlin. Wait! I didn't....." I slam the door shut going to Gaius'.
ARTHUR POV
I didn't mean it. I swear I didn't. I was just angry and distressed. I need to find him to apologize.
I run the corridor and fall straight to my face. It's weird being in his body. I'm so skinny now, and his clothes are really baggy. Not to mention, there is this weird tingling sensation that feels like it's slowly bubbling to a boil under his/my skin. I think I finally get why he is always so clumsy.
I get back up and continue to run. I get to Giuas's room just to have him slam the door in my face. Ouch.
