Chapter Three

         I blink twice to make sure what's happening is actually happening before I shove the man off of me. Wiping the dust off my butt, I turn to look back at the man who intensely stares me down from his spot on the roof.

        "You're my partner, right?" The man asks and I nod. He flashes a smile before taking a deep bow forward.

        "My name is Storm, and I am at your service my lady. My kwami is a black panther, hence the outfit. I also have a stick that extends that I can use to get around and attack with" Standing back up straight, he walks over and gives a small turn to show off his body - I mean his outfit. I did notice the black panther theme, especially considering his ears and the tail that juts out from his nicely shaped butt - not that I was looking or anything. "My magic is called Panthphys, it lets me go invisible and also see things that normal people can't! My kwami gave me the power to destroy things with lightning too! What's yours?" He asks, staring at me.

        "Ummm, hi my name is Phoenix. And to be honest, I'm not sure, I've never tried using them. I know I can fly and turn invisible through something called Flivis, and somehow I can summon a sword that has magical abilities - I think." I look at the ground, trying to process it all. "Yeah, that's pretty much all I know." I shrug as Storm walks over to me, grabbing my hand in his.

        "Come on, let's go catch this akuma and then we can take some time to get to know each other!" He begins to lead me off the roof before I yank my hand from his and quickly jump to another rooftop.

        "Hey, let's just focus on getting the job done. That's why we were chosen, right? To protect the people of this city? I doubt it's to just sit around talking about ourselves..." I trail off and take off into a sprint when I see something moving out of the corner of my eye. "There!" I take off running, not caring if the "partner" of mine is following me or not.

        "Phoenix! Wait up!" He calls from behind me, jumping off the roof next to me. "We'll do this together, yes?" I nod before scanning the area for any movement.

        "I don't see anything.. What about you?" I ask, turning to face Storm.

        "Nope. Must have gotten away. Now, sweetheart, what do you say we use this quality time to learn more about each other?" He takes my hand in his, placing a kiss on the top of it.

        "No... I'm good. We should keep looking." I snatch my hand from him, turning blindly around a corner and tripping over a garbage can. The bin clatters to the ground, spilling garbage everywhere as it rolls down the just-so-happens-to-be-slanted-downhill street. Storm comes up from behind me and watches the bin keep rolling, not saying anything about what happened. He merely shrugs and ignores the bin continuing to look around once it rolls out of sight.

        "Phoenix I think I see him!" He says, tugging on my arm to get me to look in his direction. When I give him a questioning look he sighs. "The akumatized person is male." I just nod and begin running in that direction, hearing bins clatter from the same direction. Just as I round the corner and face the victim, a line of magically-enhanced garbage cans slam in front of me, trapping me from Storm. The victim flies over them, glaring down at me with a frown, his entire body composed of a robot.

        "So you're the new superheroes? The Shadow told me all about you guys." He laughs, and I begin looking for a way out of the barricade of bins before he begins shooting out liquid metal bursts at me. "My name is Metallion. You will remember my name, as it will be the one to destroy you!" Storm quickly jumps on his back and begins wrestling with him in the air to give me time.

        "Hurry Phoenix! I can only hold him off for so long and we have to find his akumatized item!" Ignoring the fact that Cyre didn't tell me much about special items, I remember my watch and touch it, giving myself the grappling-hook-yoyo thing before launching myself out of the pile. I land next to Storm before looking anywhere for a possible akuma to hide. Before I can finish assessing my options to look at, a burst of metal locks in my feet, cooling quickly and locking me to the ground. Storm jumps off Metallion to help me, and Metallion barrels away to continue wreaking havoc.
