I'm not a flower

You always loved

caring for the flowers,

raking fallen leaves,

and tending your garden.

I was no different

to the blue violets

you carefully watered

and fusied over.

I was just another

orchid, depending,

needy for your

care and love.

Another flower on

your  rhododendron,

sheltered, spoilt,

but one of the bunch.

A cliché rose,

seemingly pretty

but when close

always prickly.

So I'm not surprised

when I fell apart,

you just raked the pieces

of my broken heart.
