Complex minds

Warning: brief mention of self harm.

Have you ever
felt exhausted?
Like you cannot
do any more,
at least not
without collapsing?

Have your eyes
ever itched because
of endless hours
gazing at a black ceiling,
no matter how hard
you try to sleep?

Have your hands ever
itched and missed the feel
of cold, sharp metal
to slice away your fears?
Did you ever
try to?

Has your mind ever
wondered off to a place
where you would finally
be at peace?
Wished that you
never again would feel?

Has your body ever
trembled to contain
your worries?
Moving desperately,
inevitably, and
irritating everybody?

Have you ever felt lonely?
Even when surrounded
by masses of people?
Knowing not one
of them was willing
to put you first?

Have your inner demons
ever choked you?
Defeated you?
Has turmoil in life
caused you to feel
any of this?

If so, welcome,
darling, hello.
Join us and our
darkness, at least
you won't be alone.
Come, let yourself go.
