Once they got home, Beatrice scrambled out of Chloe's arms and ran straight for the stairs. Beca reached out, catching Bea's wrist swiftly.

"Bee, wait. Let's just talk about this..." She said shakily.

"No! I don't wanna talk to you!" Beatrice yelled, trying to push Beca off.

"Bee-"

"Leave me ALONE!" Beatrice screamed, kicking Beca hard in the shin before racing away to her room.

"Beatrice! That is unacceptable!" Chloe yelled after her, hands on hips.

"It's fine." Beca grunted, clutching her ankle.

Chloe spun around to face her, suddenly worried. She rushed to Beca's side, catching her before she toppled right over. Chloe held Beca in her arms tightly, resting her chin on Beca's head.

"Are you okay?" She asked softly, kissing Beca's hair lovingly.

"Am I okay? My daughter hates me because I'm leaving her. Of course I'm not okay." Beca said darkly, her body going limp in Chloe's arms.

Chloe was about to feel hurt by Beca's harsh reply, when she felt something shift. Beca's body was rocking backwards and forwards in Chloe's arms. Wet tears dropped down onto Chloe's skin. Beca was sobbing.

"Oh no, oh Beca," Chloe said miserably. "Don't cry!"

"I don't know what to do. Tell me what to do, Cho," Beca cried, clutching Chloe tightly and hiding her face in Chloe's chest. "Just tell me what to do."

"You don't have to do anything. Beca, we don't have to go," Chloe soothed. "I can keep my job, you can find another one that's closer. Everything will work out."

"The money is good. Even if we don't stay permanently, the money is good. We need that money, for-... Ugh, you know we do. And you hate your job, Chlo. You were so looking forward to vet school." Beca replied brokenly.

"But I also look forward to seeing the face of that beautiful little girl up there every single day. And I can stay in my job a little longer. Or I can try and get into a vet school around  here..." Chloe suggested.

They both knew it was an empty statement. They couldn't afford for Chloe to be unemployed while she studied for vet school without the money Beca would bring in from her promotion.

"I need to take this job, Chlo. We've already decided. We knew Bea would react badly..." Beca said, trying to sound in control. But with every word, her voice broke a little more. "I'll go and talk to her...I'll sort this out."

"Not like that you won't," Chloe said, tilting Beca's chin up so they were looking at each other. "You're a mess, Becs. A hot mess, but a mess. Go and clean up, I'll see Bea. You can meet me in there." Beca rolled her eyes, but nodded, allowing Chloe to help her up.

They walked up stairs with their arms wrapped around each other, bodies slotted perfectly together. Beca never tired of the feeling. It just felt right.

They stopped at the top of the stairs. Before heading into the bathroom, Beca lent forwards and whispered in Chloe's ear. Chloe nodded, turning to catch Beca's lips in a quick kiss.

Then she watched Beca slip away to clean herself up. Chloe went into her and Beca's room first, grabbing something from Beca's bedside draw. She slipped it into her cardigan pocket before going into Bea's bedroom.

Beatrice was laying on her bed, crying into her pillows. Her curly hair was a mess, hiding her face from view. Chloe felt her heart break just looking at the girl.
