Beca sat slumped at her brand new desk at her brand new job. Everything was shiny and clean. It hurt Beca's eyes.

It was already dark out, she had been working over-time during the week to make sure she didn't have any outstanding work over the weekend.

Her and Chloe always travelled home to see Beatrice for the weekend and she wanted her daughter to have her full attention.

Ding dong.

Footsteps could be heard from the other side of the door. Excited little feet running down the corridor.

Pad, pad, pad.

As it swung open, Beca couldn't keep the huge grin off her face.

"Momma!" Beatrice yelled, throwing herself into Beca's outstretched arms.

"Bea!"

Beca had crouched a little, ready to catch her daughter. She did easily, spinning the little girl from side to side in their tight squeeze.

Susan and Alice stood in the doorway, greeting Chloe while they waited for Beca and Beatrice to release each other.

"How's she been?" Chloe asked, one hand on Beca's back.

"Better than expected," Susan nodded with a smile. "It's hardest for her at night, but her and Alice have taken to sleeping in the same bed and that seems to be helping."

"That's a relief," Chloe sighed, reaching out to fluff Bea's hair. Chloe herself had hardly slept with all the worry.

Beca put Beatrice down, turning to hug Susan. Chloe took the opportunity to look down at the now free Beatrice. Beatrice looked up at her, eyes shining. Chloe raised an eyebrow, smirking at the girl.

"Is it my turn now?" She asked.

"Of course!" Beatrice grinned, jumping up to wrap her arms around Chloe's neck. Chloe smiled, wrapping her arms around Beatrice's waist.

"Have you gotten taller?" She asked, laughing. "And you feel thin. Have you been eating enough?"

"Like a horse," Susan answered, rolling her eyes affectionately.

Beca spun around to look at her little girl. Or her not-so-little girl. Beatrice's toes were almost touching the floor, despite the fact that Chloe was holding her up. Beca knew that neither she nor Chloe were especially tall, but surely Beatrice couldn't be catching up to them already?

"You stop that, right now, kiddo. No child of mine is growing up to be taller than me," Beca said.

Beatrice dropped to the floor, turning to face her mother. Her and Beca had mirrored expressions of determination on their faces. Chloe and Susan could barely suppress their giggles.

"But, Momma, you're so tiny!" Beatrice retorted. "I'll never be tall enough to go on any of the rides at the amusement park."

"She's got you there's, Becs," Susan chuckled, holding her sides.

"Shut up," Beca grumbled, scowling. "I can't help it if I'm short."

"I love you regardless, you tiny mouse," Chloe grinned, walking forwards to kiss Beca on her frowning lips. She kept one hand on Beatrice's shoulder.

Usually Beatrice would complain about Beca and Chloe kissing in front of her, especially with other people around. But not that day.

Beca noticed the change and pulled away gently from Chloe to tease her daughter about it. But the smile on Beatrice's face stopped her.
