Chasity:
I couldn't believe it. I spend the week with Ana, so he gets me back by going out with some Latin wolf! I walked up the stairs almost ready to cry. No, I was not going to be jealous of some werewolf chick that was going out with my step-brother. I walked into my room and then I felt him. I turned around holding a strawberry in my mouth, so he couldn't kiss me.
Yup, just remove temptation all together, I thought. Smart thinking, Chaz.
He just looked down at me with longing and I knew then that I would lose any battle I waged against myself to keep him away. His mouth was on mine, as he took the strawberry from my mouth. He kissed me one last time, before taking my last strawberry and walking out. I followed him.
"Had to get a strawberry before my pig of a little step-sister ate them all," he laughingly told the waiting Maria.
"Hey! That was the last one!" I yell down at him, selling the lie further.
He waved at me, without looking back. My chest ached like it had never ached before, but my panties were soaked and my heart was beating three times too fast.
~~~
I tried to sleep, but I only had nightmares about Hunter and that Maria chick. I decided I had to get some fresh air. I put on some shorts and tennis shoes and a light sweater, for the Texas night breeze. I crept out of the quiet house and walked down the street to the park. I used to run at the park everyday, back in high school. I slowly jogged, trying to forget everything that had happened since I got off the plane a week ago.
I jogged because it was freeing and I was feeling suffocating with my entire life. How could I have let myself be attracted to Hunter? More importantly, how could I stop it? I was so lost in thought, that tripped over an unseen crack and fell off the sidewalk and into the grass. I just lay there and stared at the stars, still attempting to free myself of all thoughts of Hunter. A face suddenly appeared over me.
"Ahh!"
"Oh, sorry!" he jumped back onto the sidewalk, "I was just checking to see if you were okay. I saw you fall and when you didn't get back up.... I came to check on you." He held out his hand and I took it. I brushed myself off.
"Yeah I'm fine, thanks. Just thinking about things. I'm Chasity, or Chaz, for short." I held out my hand to shake his.
"Grayson. Do you run here often?"
"Not like I used to. I just needed to get away and get some fresh air."
"You really shouldn't be out here by yourself. Not at night. You never know what dangerous creatures lurk about." We had started walking along the sidewalk, it circled back around. I laughed to myself, thinking about what I had to go home to.
"What's that? Like coyotes? I already know that and I always keep an eye out."
"Not just coyotes, there are worse things, and you hadn't even noticed me until I stood over you. If I had been a wild beast, you would have been dinner."
"Worse than coyotes?" I asked, still laughing, "Like wolves? Oooo, scary! The big bad wolf might get me!" I laughed harder, but Grayson wasn't finding anything funny in my comment. I slowly stopped laughing. "How do you know all this anyway? You aren't a poacher, are you?" I asked getting defensive for the poor creatures.
"NO! Of course not, but I have my ways of knowing things." He looked around and I heard him sniff. I stiffened because then I knew how he knew that wolves lurked the area.
"You?" I said, before I could stop myself.
He looked at me, eyes wide. I ran, like I had never run before, but I knew I was no match for his inhuman speed. He was in my path in a flash. I dodged around him, expecting it, and that took him off guard. Knowledgeable prey is difficult prey. I saw my street, but was tackled before I could reach it. He was on top of me and had rolled me over to pin me on my back.
"What do you know?" was all he said. My heart was racing because his eyes had gone amber. Somehow I knew that it was more along the lines of a wolf thing, rather than just lust.
"What makes you think I know anything?' I said trying to play innocent, but I could tell I was failing miserably.
"You take off running and you knew to dodge me. Also, you're looking at me now and you aren't screaming."
"Let me go." I was not giving him anything. He loosened his grip, but didn't let go. I would be turned on if it were another place and I hadn't just been in a near death situation. He leaned close to me and smelled me.
"Hunter Wyatt."
"How do you know Hunter?" Not mentioning our relationship because he had just caught his scent on my lips.
"Did Hunter tell you anything?"
"About what?" Still trying to play the innocent card.
"You know what about, don't even pretend you have no idea what I'm talking about. I know you know what I am." With that he stood up and held out his hand to me. I let him help me up, he did knock me down in the first place.
"No, I put two and two together. I've been obsessed with everything wolves since I can remember and I just figured it out. He never breathed the word 'werewolf.' It was all me and my brilliant mind, so just leave him alone," I put a touch of warning at the last of my statement.
"What, is he your boyfriend or something?" I laughed at the thought.
"No, my mom is about to marry his dad." He looked a me with his head tilted to the side. "Would you like to walk me home?"
"I just attacked you and you want me to walk you home?" He smiled at the thought.
"Well, if you want me to walk all by myself, then fine, bye," I turned to walk away, adding, "Besides, you didn't hurt me when you could've so I figured I was safe with you, but whatever."
He fell in step beside me. When we got closer to the house, I saw that Hunter's Camaro was in the driveway and he and Maria were on the porch kissing. I stopped and Grayson looked up to see what I was looking at. Grayson seemed to understand and turned me to him.
He pulled me into him. Before I could register what was happening, his minty mouth was on mine and I was breathless. He was such a good kisser. He moved his mouth against mine a bit before touching his tongue to my lips. I opened my mouth, eagerly allowing him entrance. I vaguely noticed the wind blowing by us, from the direction we had come.
*******
Hunter:
"I had a good time, Hunter." Maria's lips were on mine and I felt fire.
She tasted like grape lip gloss. She aggressively shoved her tongue down my throat. I held her waist, as she devoured my mouth. I had felt bad the entire night, for leaving Chaz by herself, while I went out. I hadn't expected her to come back when she did and I could tell she was jealous of Maria. If only slightly.
The breeze blew against us and I caught two scents. Chasity? But she shouldn't be out, she should be in bed, my wolf said a bit confused.
The other scent caught Maria's attention as well.
"Alpha?" was all she said, as I looked up to see Chasity in the arms of our pack's Alpha. They were making out. My wolf growled at the sight. There was a hand on my chest and I hadn't even realized I was walking toward them. "Hunter, that's our Alpha! Get a grip on your wolf!"
She pulled me around the side of the house, as I tried to keep from going and ripping his throat out.
"Are you okay?" I nodded, not trusting my words. "You know, if the Alpha takes an interest in someone, she usually becomes the next Luna, human or not." She sighed, sadly reminiscing. No way was the Grayson stealing my mate.
