5. Be one step ahead.

Now, this only applies to someone you know. By know, I mean somewhat knowing their personality, or how they act or think. By knowing these things, you can figure out what they will say next, which might help shape your lie. I'm going to go back to the vase example. If your mom is the one that's angry, is she going to be angry that you were playing ball in the house, or that her favorite vase is broken? If it's the latter, you would make sure your lie is comforting and won't make your mom any sadder than she is. If it's the former, you might want to make your lie seem more neutral or expressionless, or like you know what you're saying to make her believe your lie better. Manipulation is key for people to accept your lie.
