All the time, nakatulala lang ako. Who wouldn't be? I just got engaged with Damien Cordova! And the awkward moment? It is when you sit next to him in front of your relatives and his relatives. And I was not expecting such a thing like this.
My mom and Tita Diana was giggling in front of us, for sure, they're talking about us. And I just rolled my eyes. My eyes turn to dad, talking with Tito Jordan, ofcourse, it's still all about business.
“Why are you so silent?”
Napalingon ako kay Damien. He was starring at me na halos ikalaglag ng panga ko. He's so fucking gorgeous tonight!
I composed myself. “Just shocked.”
“You really don't know that I was going to be your fiance, huh?”
Ipinilig niya ang ulo. “Yes.”
“Are you forced?”
Gulat siyang napatingin kay Damien. He's eyes was nervous at the moment but it change when she starred back to him. What is he talking about?
“No. No, I'm not.”
And yes, she's telling a truth. Alam niyang darating din ang araw na ito. Napag usapan na nila ito ng mga magulang niya, before. Well, kung ibang lalaki man ang na engage sa kanya, masasabi niyang na force siya. But she didn't expect na yung magiging fiance niya ay yung 'long time crush' niya pala. So why would she feel forced with it, huh?
“Well, that's great.”
Damien answered at naging busy na sa cellphone nito. Her heart suddenly sadden. How about you? Baka ikaw yung naforced, may girlfriend ka diba?
Ofcourse, hindi niya iyon tinanong. From the very beggining with this shit, alam niyang this is caused by their parent's business. So, alam niyang napipilitan lang ito.
But what happened in Delta Falls ... Why did he kissed her, thinking that he has a girlfriend? Is he cheating? At sa akin pa?
“Les?”
Nabalik siya sa wisyo when her Ate Elyse called her.
“Hey! Ate Elyse!” she tried her voice sounds jolly. Nagbeso sila.
“I'm so happy that Damien and you finally engaged. I'm so excited that you'll gonna be my sister- in- law.”
She forced a little smile. But nothing a single word her mouth uttered. And that's when her Ate Elyse noticed her mood.
“Are you okay, Les?”
Tumango naman siya ng dahan-dahan. “Yep. Naligo kasi ako kanina sa Delta Falls kaya medyo pagod lang.”
Elyse's shocked. “Really? Naligo din doon si Damien. Nagkasabay kayo?”
Her eyes widened. Oh no. Should she tell her?
Umiling siya. “N-no.” she lied. “Di ko siya nakita kanina”
Elyse shrugged. “Sayang naman. ” she said and then noticed Damien who's busy with his phone. “What are you doing, brother? Didn't I tell you to entertain, Alessia?”
No need. It's still useless. Hindi naman ito gaano nagsasalita sa kanya.
“I'm just—”
“No.” she cut him off. “Pupuntahan ko na kasi sina Leyla at Julie. Please, excuse me.”
Kunot noo siyang tinitigan ni Damien ngunit umiwas siya sa titig na iyon. She don't want him to know how she feel right now.
