The Day Has Come

Today is the day I end my suffering. So here's what I'm going to do: I will let the day go on as a normal day but when it's lunchtime that's when it starts. At lunchtime, the principal goes down to the teachers' lounge on the main floor, his office is on the third, made specially for it, actually, and that's when I'll have to sneak up there. So, at lunchtime, I will ask to go to the bathroom. I'll just have to make sure he leaves. No one keeps 'guard' up there, he just leaves it unattended. From there, I'll get into his office and to the microphone. I've looked up videos on how to run those things, but I think I could've figured it out easily. Then I'll pretend to be the principal and give my speech. I will also be pulling the fire alarm so they go outside for sure, then have them walk around to see me.

I walk up to the guy by the door to the hall from the cafeteria.
"May I exit to use the restroom, please, Sir?" I ask him, kindly and quiet. He grunts but scooches over, not even answering me or looking at me. I simply push past him and walk into the hall. As soon as I'm around the corner, I bolt for the stairs. I make it up to the second floor quickly and see the principal's shoes going down the stairwell to the third. I duck around a corner so he won't see me or I'll get in caught and my plan will fail. His steps clack down the stairs then begin to go away as he takes a right at the corner just next to this one. Thankfully he doesn't come all the way down here or I might have failed my mission. Once I hear his steps descending the stairs over there, they come out right next to the lounge he's going to, I make a run for it. I'm out of breath when I finally get inside. I may play basketball, but running up two flights of stairs right before you're about to jump into a sea of hate so they can watch you die is not one of our exercises. Last night, I snuck in and set up a trap in the lounge room. It has a motion detector on it that links to my phone. Alex had given it to me if you were wondering. I lock the doors and pull it out of my pocket. I see him inside, brewing some coffee. I click the lock button. A little loading simple pops up for a few seconds before it reads, "Emergency Lock Successful". Perfect.
I walk over the laptop on his desk. The microphone is already plugged in, so no need to mess with that. I clicked the settings symbol. I connect it to the outside speakers and turn the volume 100%, then do the same to the inside ones. I was gonna not deafen people still inside, but as long as Alex got out and wasn't harmed, the rest of them can burn for all I care. Wait, why do I care if Alex gets out? He won't ever accept me, and he was holding rocks with the other kids on the day in the gym. I'm sure he threw it, probably even was one of the people to knock me unconscious or broke my bones. Well, bone.
Ugh, enough of this, Cristal. I stand and walk over to the fire alarm, pulling the hand down. Then, after a few moments, going to the mic and picking it up. I had recited my lines last night, so I was prepared. I had even printed out a paper with the words on it than now lay unfolded in front of me on the desk.
"Attention all students, staff, and townspeople. I request that you go outside immediately. You must have a view of the highest balcony of the school, the one facing the town from my, the principals', office. This is an emergency." The alarm is blaring, there are girls' scared or worried screams from down below, and the red lights for the deaf, even though none of us are, are flashing brightly. They remind me of a lighthouse for some reason.
I unplug the microphone and walk outside onto the balcony with it in my hand. It has a small battery in it and would work. I see a lot of people in the streets and around the building, looking extremely confused. Well, until they see me up here. My eyes catch on someone in particular, Alex. He's staring up at me and looks absolutely terrified. That's what you get for breaking my heart. And without me even knowing. I had no clue how much he hurt me until I thought about it. Macie looked scared, too, but a little pleased.

"You probably know who I am. And you can probably guess what's happening here. I just wanted to say, I hate you all. You did this to me, and I hope that matters someday in the future. But for now, I'll set an example of what you wretched people can do." I drop the mic down to the floor of the balcony as I climb onto the railings. I was on the balcony rails ready to jump.
Then I hear a crash throw the window next to me. "Cristal! No! Don't! Cristal!" Its John! He easily fit throw the smashed window. He starts walking towards me. "Don't take another step or I'll jump!" I wailed back then he stoped. "why are you here?! Why would anyone care if I jump! Just go away!" I screamed at him. He walks a couple steps in front of me while my back was turned. He put his hand on my shoulder and said "I'll always be here for you. You're never alone Cristal." He turned me around and kissed me on the lips. Then he puts his other hand on the other shoulder, and pushes me off the balcony. The last thing I remember is seeing Alex trying to push trough the crowd to 'catch me'. To be honest I think he was just trying to get a better view. He was screaming "NO!" Then I close my eyes and rested.

I wake up in the hospital and see my mother and father. Their talking to the doctor and my two big brothers and my big sister. I could here the police in the background. They where all screaming except the doctor. I tried to sit-up but the nurse came in and said,
"Lay back down please because I have some news for you, darling." She sighed. "You took quite a fall there, Cristal. Your lucky that boy caught you just in time. He says your his mate. And Cristella is laying in the next room." I had completely forgot about Cristella! I tried to sit-up then stand but I ended up grabbing a walker. We sneak by the crowd and into Cristella's room. As soon as we walk in I rush to Cristella.
"She has a very slim chance of being dead. Its just a 1% chance of being dead. She should be good and healthy for you in a couple of days." Then my legs gave out and I couldn't feel them.

They had to take me to the emergency room but I whined for Cristella. They brought her and she was walking again. She and I fell asleep while they were doing the operation on my legs. Ten minutes pass and the nurse is back. She sits down beside me and hugs me tightly.
"I have some bad news and I hate to tell you this, but you won't be-able to walk again. Not ever again. And you'll have to quit the basketball team." I started to cry but then John walked in.
"Hey Cristal. How are you feeling?" I gave him the cold shoulder. He was the reason why I could never walk again. The reason why I can no longer play basketball. The reason why I could no longer feel my legs. And I hated him for that. The nurse told him to leave and he did. Then coach walked in with a gift basket. She gave me the biggest hug.
"How you feelin' champ? I heard the news and so I got you a little present on the bottom."
"Fine and thank you coach. You've always be the only person I trust." I say. Then my mother walked in and I could tell she'd been crying. She sat down in the chair next to me.
"Why are you over there when I need you next to me, Mom?" But she didn't talk. Not until dad came in and almost smacked me across the face.
"We won't be able to care for you anymore, Susan." She said all of the sudden. I corrected her and said,
"Mother, my name is Cristal not Susan. You guys didn't bother to give me a name so I named myself."
"Young lady do you have any idea what you just put me through? Now I have no job and now I do want you dead!" My dad screamed at me. "And I was about to become sergeant and now I'm fired." He screamed again and this time actually striking me across me head. But when he screamed, I could smell alcohol from his breath. So I realized that mom really didn't like alcohol and dad was the alcoholic in the family. I wanted to scream I hate you but I didn't because he is my dad. Instead,
"Why do you do that all the time?! You only care about yourself, mom and my three bigger siblings! You never cared about me! All you do is threaten me or strike me! You starve me to death and threaten to shoot me when I'm at my willow tree! You were a police officer and you were supposed to protect family especially the youngest one which is me! But you never protected me and you never will! Instead you threaten to kill me or strike me! The youngest of the family! And one last thing 'dad', I HATE YOU AND WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU! I WISH THAT I WAS DEAD! Then I would never have to deal with you again! And now I hope you can see why I wanted to kill myself 'dad'!"
