i haven't forgotten abt this!! since i finished writing ddlc, i can finally get back to working on this a bit more !!! i'm trying to focus on finishing this before publishing anything else, so u should be seeing more updates soon~

(also, i realize how cliché this entire story is shshshsh ik i'm not original)

it was the end of the school day, and jeongguk found himself running to the school parking lot, hoping to catch either jimin or hoseok before they left. he spotted jimin first, the orange hair sticking out in the crowd of (mostly) natural hair colors. he stopped the older, but also shorter, boy by grabbing onto his shoulder and spinning him around.

"je— fuck, jeongguk, don't do that," jimin gasped out, clutching his chest. "i thought you were somebody coming to beat the shit out of me or murder me or some fuc-"

"stop swearing for one second please. i need to ask you a question," jeongguk said, catching his breath. he had always had great stamina when it came to running, but shoving through a bunch of stubborn teens with ten thousand books stuffed into a bag slung over your back could be quite a workout.

jimin's eyebrows furrowed. "a question? what about?"

"where does taehyung live? is he busy tonight? are you going to be with him? wh-"

"slow down, speedy gonzales," jimin scoffed. "that was way more than 'a question', but i have the answers. in return, however, i need you to tell me why you want to know. i'm not just going to start trusting you all of a sudden just because seokjin talked things out with you. speaking of seokjin, where is that asshole?"

"i wanted to apologize to taehyung a while ago, but when he recently tried talking to me, i backed out thinking i would mess things up. i want to apologize to him tonight though, and i've made up my mind," jeongguk stated proudly, glaring at the group of girls that forcefully shoved the two boys aside.

"okay, that's great and all...but what made you change your mind?" jimin asked, crossing his arms.

"let's just say a little birdy named seokjin provided me with an event that changed the way i think about literally everything." jeongguk gave jimin a small half-smile.

"of course he would," jimin said, smiling as he shook his head. "but you never answered my other question. where's seokjin? he was supposed to give me a ride to taehyung's tonight so that we could eat dinner and spend the night with him."

"he went to his house after the 'life-changing' event—which somehow made it even more eye-opening—and evidently he isn't here, but i'll give you a ride to taehyung's place if you let me come inside to apologize." jeongguk gestured in the direction of his car.

jimin crossed his arms, already defeated. "fine."

the two boys were parked in taehyung's driveway, and jeongguk had just now started realizing the severity of his actions and began panicking. in his panic, he had somehow latched himself onto jimin, practically screaming in the older boy's ears. about how nervous he was.

jimin shoved him off. "if it were any other point in the timeline of my life, i would probably be excited about you hugging me, but since my feelings are jumbled up i would prefer if you didn't." the boy sighed, straightening out his shirt. "just don't back out on talking to him, okay? taehyung's a very understanding person."

"yeah, yeah," jeongguk said, turning the car off and opening the door.

jimin unbuckled his seatbelt. "do you want me to go in first?"
