Justins POV:

I woke up from my sleep still feeling exhausted. I blinked a couple of times and realized everything was still black. I raised my right arm and felt the bandages were still on my eyes. I searched the bed for the help button and pushed it.

I don’t know how long I was asleep for but I didn’t dream, maybe it was the medicine or maybe it was because I was so worn out. Everything was so scattered around in my head, the crash, my injuries, not being able to see was still freaking me out and my mind kept flashing to Selena’s face. I just wanted to see her.

“Oh good you’re finally awake.” I heard a women’s voice say. “Mam’ your sons awake.” She said in a soothing voice.

“J-justin?!” I heard my mom shout and her hands touch my shoulder.

“Hey mom.” I said with a smile turning my head to her direction “Can we take these bandages off now?”

“Yes I’ll go get the doctor.” The nurse said as I heard her footsteps leave the room.

“Thank god.” I said with a sigh of relief.

“Oh hunny, I’m so happy you’re okay.” My mom cried.

“I’m alright mom. Don’t cry.” I said as I tried to calm her down “How long was out asleep for?”

“Well they put you in an induced coma for 2 days to make sure all of the glass was out of your eye and you’d be able to see.” She said as she tried to control her voice from shaking.

“Oh wow.. two days.” I paused, all I could think about was Selena. But I was still scared to ask about her.

“Hello Justin.” I heard the doctor say as he entered the room.

“Hi. So can we take these bandages off?” I asked eagirly.

“Yeah you slept for 4 hours so everything should be ready to go. Close your eyes for me, the lights may be pretty bright at first.” He said as I heard his footsteps stop at the side of my bed.

I did as he told and kept my eyes closed. I felt my mom grab my hand so I squeezed back letting her know I was alright. I felt the doctors cold hands on the side of my face lifting off the little piece of tape and uncovering my right eye and then my left. I still had my eyes closed but the lights were so bright through my eye lids I felt like I was staring right into someones head lights.

“Can we turn the lights off?” I asked as I held up my right hand to block the light.

“Sure.” I heard the nurse say.

When she flicked off the light I slowly opened my eyes. I had to blink a couple of times to get my eyes to focus but my mom finally came into view.

“Hey sweetie.” My mom said as we looked eachother in the eyes.

“Hey.” I said with a smile.

She leaned forward and kissed my forehead, still not letting go of my hand. I turned to the doctor as he hovered over me checking my eyes making sure there was no bleeding.

“Okay Justin. You’re very lucky you’re able to see right now. I believe we got all of the glass out. If you feel a sharp pain in either of your eyes you need to let us know immediately.”

“I will.” I said “How’s Selena.”

I saw how the doctors faced changed, and my mom took her eyes off of me for the first time. I looked at the nurse and she gave me a half-hearted smirk and left the room, closing the door behind her.
