Outside of Champion city, Jesse turned to Amy.

"Since we got interrupted, i do want to finish what i was telling you-"

Amy spat on the ground and walked off ahead, not looking back. Yelling "Screw this noise!" over her shoulder. Furious, Jesse had to bite back the urge to grab her by the neck and FORCE her to talk to him.

He just didn't get it. Had he done something to her?!

"Some people just aren't worth your time" Petra shrugged, rubbing Jesse's shoulder. He slapped her hand off and frowned at her, pent up frustration at an all time high. "Um. I'm still also not over YOU betraying me"

"BETRAYING?!" Petra yelled in disbeleif. "Jeez, it's not that bad. I know you think i don't deserve Mrs Butter back. And maybe you're right. But you can't just take out your lovers quarrel on me!"

Jesse's face turned a deep crimson, even as his glare remained. "We're not- she's- I'm 19 and she's 15, Petra! I'm not a pedophile!"

Petra just crossed her arms with a flat look. "Calling that pedophilia is a bit much. Though i wouldn't put such disgusting habits past you, Mr Perfect"

Jesse's hand cracked across her face, sending her veering to the side. She clutched her face, other hand shooting to her sword hilt. "WHAT THE F*CK?!"

Jesse's eyes seemed to glow a dark green for a second.

As he was about to hit her again, the ground beneath them trembled and familiar whispers flooded his ear. Petra took the chance to shove him to the ground, adreneline pumping through her.

However when the earth beneath him crumbled, Petra panickingly threw him to the side as the floor vanished right where his head had been.

A huge chasm once more revealed the opening to the Heckmouth, the distinct green hue hurting Jesse's eyes..

Charged creepers shot from the opening. Jesse felt bloodlust fill his mind without his consent, and as Petra went to slash at some, Jesse shot forward and buried his fist into a creeper at the front of a small group.

Their bodies were sent flying backward, shreds of blood and flesh fading into dust then nothingness as their bodies obliterated.

Panting heavily, Jesse saw another creeper nearing and threw his hand forward. A green shockwave emitted from it, exploding both the creepers and the ground. He fell to the floor, skidding across the pavement before coming to a stop in the grass. Screaming at his skinned arms that were pulsing with pain, Jesse tore the remains of his sleeves down to cover the wounds and forced himself to sit up, even as the dirt mound he had made by shoving up dirt as he fell to the ground dug into his back slightly.

Black spots faded in and out of his vision, and he hissed as the world grew a green hue. A charged creeper was running at him, only a few feet away. He heard Petra scream his name before her sword plunged through the monster's chest, evaporating it instantaneously.

Jesse breathed out a thank you before he blacked out.

Waking up to see both Petra and Amy leaning over him, an unguarded worried expression coating Petra whereas Amy wore a rather neutral but still unnerved demeanor.

When they noticed his bleary coming to they leapt away from him to allow him to sit up. Gasping at the pain in his arm, he tried desperately to block it out by focussing all of his attention on the still very much open glowing green opening.

"Sh-shouldn't you.. Close that?" he mumbled weakly. Amy shrugged, pulling a diamond axe from her inventory and showing him fresh green blood on it.  "We've been a tad pre occupied with fending these creepers off. But since you're awake and no longer helpless we certainly can"

Nodding, Jesse accepted the enchanted diamond shovel she gave him despite giving her a rather confusrd look, and began to sweep up stacks of dirt only to hurl them to his friends who proceeded to cover the opening.

"How long's this gonna hold though? It blew through the previous layer..." Amy commented, tired. Petra shrugged with a lost expression "It's been hard to think straight since Jesse punched me, I've been too dizzy to focus" she admitted, and Amy stared "Um. He PUNCHED you?!"

Petra shook her head. "I'll tell ya later. Um... We should..." she pondered for a moment before waving her hands theatrically "Jack! The guy i mentioned before- we should go find him!"

"Well i hope he knows as much as you've said he does" Jesse panted, breaths laboured as his arm pulsed. Amy gently touched the end of the skinned area and winced sympathetically. Jesse felt red grow up his cheeks and glared when Petra waggled her eyebrows at the sight.

"C'mon, I'll show you the way to him" Petra smirked, taking Jesse by the hand not attatched to his skinned arm and tugging him along. Sticking her tongue out indignantly, Amy ran after them.

Back in Beacontown Petra lead Jesse down a rather obscure alley. "Welcome... To Bad Luck Alley" she introduced with a smile. Noticing the darkness of the sky, jesse put his hands on his hips and idly said "Wow, i didn't even know people hung down here at night"

"Well yeah, it's the cool part" Petra nudged. Jesse laughed. "What's that supposed to mean?"

Petra's voice took on an unintentional condescending edge, akin to as if talking to a baby. "Aww, y'know... These people like to live off the grid, outside the rules, and you're kinda 'the boss'"

Jesse pouted. "These people are dumb then! Just because I'm 'the boss' doesn't mean i can't mix it up!"

"Uh huh. Sure. Sure" Petra agreed patronisingly.

Amy grinned and elbowed Jesse in the ribs. "Burrrrrn"

Jesse smiled breifly before it soured. He was still furious at her, at both of them, but knew he couldn't bring it up since Amy would deflect it or get so scared he would feel too bad to continue, and Petra would sass him like before and they could get in another fight.

Was it wrong to wish for different friends?
