Sakura opened the door to her apartment and stepped inside. Hinata followed after the girl and looked around. It was painfully bare. There was no sign of a family ever being here. There was no pictures anywhere and books littered the house. The couch was white and looked as if Sakura never sat on it. The table in the middle of the dining room looked barely used and the walls were a light gray giving the whole house a dark feel.
"Do you not live with your family?" Hinata asked sitting on the couch. She sunk into the fluffy cushions as Sakura just looked at her. The green in her eyes faded into a darker shade. She just stood there as tears formed in her eyes.
"I don't know them. My parents left me with Obito sensei's family when I was born. Hokage-sama lets me stay here in my family's old house but Obito sensei still checks on me all the time." Sakura said. A tear rolled down her cheek.
"I'm sorry Sakura-chan. I didn't mean to make you sad." Hinata said playing with her fingers. Sakura looked up and her eyes returned to her usual bright green.
"You have a plan right? That's why you wanted to come here?" She said. Hinata nodded and patted the spot next to her. Sakura happily took her seat and looked at Hinata.
"I really want to go on a s-class mission. I really want to.. So I thought what if we follow Uchiha-san to where ever he is going!" Hinata said causing her friend to smile.
"Okay! Sounds like a plan Hinata-chan" Sakura grinned. "I'll go pack and then we can go to your house and get your stuff!"
"Hai!" Hinata smiled and watched Sakura get up and run up the stairs to her room. She could hear her friend stumbling around up stairs trying to get all the stuff she would need. She looked around once more. Stacks of books and papers sat on the table in the living room. Hinata looked at the file closes to her. Its label read 'ANBU files'. The books varied from ninja justus and techniques to speech textbooks and even a dictionary. There was even a book of Hyuga history which Hinata recognized almost immediately. Her father would have her study it with her older cousin, Neji, almost every weekend after training. Sakura walked down the stairs and looked at Hinata as she studied the room around her.
"Alright Hinata-chan! I'm ready! We can go to your house to get your stuff now!" Sakura said standing at the bottom of the stairs. Hinata nodded and the two left the house. They walked down the street until they got to the building with the Hyuga name above the door.
"What do I say?" Hinata said with a scared tone. "I don't know what to tell him... We could be gone for a week maybe more...."
"Humm..." Sakura said putting her hand to her chin. She never really had to deal with parents and if she did have to make up a lie to tell Obito he would just see right through it and call her on it. "I don't know Hinata-chan."
"Ugh I guess I can't go..." she said to herself. Sakura frowned.
"He knows your strong! Why don't you just tell him you are gonna train with us and go on missions with us!" Sakura yelled. Hinata turned around and put her finger to her lips. Sakura covered her mouth but it was no use. Hizashi, Hinata's uncle, came out of the doors and looked down at the girls.
"Oji!!" Hinata said looking at her uncle.
"Is it Lady Hinata, Papa!?" the younger Hyuga said coming out to his fathers side. He looked at the girls and then at his father.
"Who is this?" Hiashi said coming out and looking at Sakura. The pink haired girl looked from Hizashi and Hiashi. She was confused by how much they looked a like but it slowly made since. They were twins.
"I'm Sakura Haruno. Its so nice to finally meet you Hyuga-san!" Sakura said bowing her head to the two men. Neji looked at the girl and then at his younger cousin. A frown spread on his lips.
"Its nice to meet you too, Haruno-san. Would you like to come in?" Hizashi said politely. Sakura stood up straight and smiled at him She nodded excitedly and followed the family inside. Hinata looked down and watched her feet as she went step by step into the household she grew up in. Sakura skipped happily behind Neji and his father.
"Hinata come with me for a moment. I need to speak with you." Hiashi said causing Sakura and Hinata to stop and look at each other. Hinata nodded to her friend to continue with her uncle and she smiled in reply. She watched her friend walk around the corner before turning around and looking at her father. The stern look he always wore was still plastered onto his face. His pale eyes looking at her with an emotion she couldn't read . The air she took in got stuck in her throat and she couldn't speak. "Where were you Hinata! We looked for you the whole day. You said you were gonna be in the cemetery and you weren't there!"
"Otosan.... I was with Sakura..." she said quietly and looked down.
"Where were you guys. I want to know where you ran off to! You had me worried!" Hiashi yelled going down to his daughters level. Hinata looked at her father. His usual expression changed completely. A look of worry washed over his face.
"We went to Hokage-sama's office with Uchiha-san. He had a mission and need to talk to Lord 4th." Hinata said looking down. She didn't want to make her father angry.
"Who?" He inquired. Hinata looked up. A smile spread on her face.
"Obito sensei!" She said happily. Hiashi looked at his daughter. He knew who she was talking about. Obito Uchiha. Member of Konoha's ANBU unit 2. He's very skilled for his age and is a former member of team Minato aka Lord 4th. He worked side by side with Rin Nohara, a very skilled medical ninja and Kunoichi, and Kakashi Hatake, the copy ninja and child prodigy.
"Sensei?" He asked and raised his eyebrow. Hinata's smile faded and she looked to the ground once more.
"Is it okay with you Otosan?" Hinata asked. Her father smiled and placed his hand under her chin making her look at him.
"Your a very strong girl Hinata. Your smart too. If you believe Obito can help you then I will allow it." He said much to Hinata's surprise. She smiled and hugged her father. Hiashi hugged his six-year-old to his chest. She let out a giggle which made him smile as he pulled her away and held her at arms length.
"Otosan uh...Obito sensei is going on a mission to the mist... Sakura and I want to go....." Hinata said causing her father to take in a breath. He knew he couldn't hold her back anymore. She is growing stronger everyday and keeping her locked up in this old house is only gonna hold her back.
"How long is this mission?" He said. Hinata smiled and held up 2 figures.
"Obito sensei said 2 weeks at the most." She said. Hiashi was skeptical about letting his daughter be gone for 2 weeks and with a stranger nonetheless but he knew she could do it. He closed his eyes.
"Okay..." He said. Hinata lit up. "But I want you to come home safe.."
"Hai Otosan! I will! Thank you so much!" She smiled and ran to her room. She grabbed her bag and packed her sleeping close and her Hyuga history book. She still hadn't finished and thought it would be good to read oh the boat. She grabbed her tan weapon pouch and opened it looking inside. She had four shuriken and three kunai along with the folded drawing she made all those years ago for her mother.
"Hinata-chan are we ready its almost time." Sakura said coming into the room.
"Hai Sakura-chan. Just getting my bag ready." She said picking it up and slinging it over her shoulder. She quickly tied the weapon pouch around her waist and looked at Sakura.
"Ready?" She said smiling. A feeling of excitement rushed through Hinata's body as she nodded to her smiling friend. "Okay lets go!"
"Okay.." Hinata chirped. The two girls walked out of the room and down the hall to the living space where Hiashi and Hizashi were sitting. Hinata looked at her father and his twin. Hizashi wore a bitter smile as he watched the little girl walk out of the house after smiling and saying good bye. Neji looked at his cousin as she left and smiled wide. He was proud of her.
"See you when I get back Itoko Neji!" She yelled and closed the door following Sakura to the gates of Konohagakure where they would wait for Obito.
