Sakura stood at the tip of the huge boat and looked out at the mist covering the view of the water around her. The boat is taking fifty or so people to The Land of Water but most of them like saying down in the bunks. It's not a long trip but they still have bed down there so people could nap if they needed to. Hinata stood a little ways from Sakura. She watched her carefully but she didn’t move. She just stood there leaning against the wooden rail and looked out at the water. Obito sat on a bench next to the entrance leading into the bunks. He was focused on the book in front of him.
“Uchiha-san how long have you known Sakura-chan?” Hinata said still looking at her friend. Obito, however, turned his attention to the girl beside him. He didn’t even sense her up on the deck. He was surprised when she took her seat next to him because he didn’t even hear her walk up.
“Uh I’ve known Sakura since she was….two years old… maybe one…” He said thinking of when he met the little brat. “Her parents are missing nin now. Kizashi and I were close because he knew my father. Before they left the village for good Mibuki handed Sakura to me and asked me to watch her. That little brat has been a pain.” Hinata laughed and looked at Obito.
“So your like her parent?” Hinata said in her sweet innocent voice. Obito smiled and nodded.
“I guess you can say that. I’ve been with her since then. We do almost everything together.” Obito said causing the Hyuga to smiled once more.
“When did she become your student?” she inquired.
“Well lets see.. It was when she was around 4. I had started to see her potential as a shinobi and asked her to train with me. She said no but after a couple months she started to use her own chakra. I told her I could help her get strong because she really wanted to be strong. She had this motivation. I still don’t know what it is....but she gave in and told me to teach her everything I knew and …. That's what I did.” Obito said.
“She is really strong then?” Hinata said smiling to herself. She was excited for some reason. She didn’t know why but she couldn’t wait to train with Sakura and see her strength for herself. “Uh Uchiha-san one more question…”
“Yeah Hinata?” He said. Hinata looked at him dead in the face.
“What was her first s-class mission like?” She said. Obito touched his chin trying to remember the time.
“It was around the time our training was on hold. Sakura was 5. I had to go retrieve information about a group taking children from the hidden villages. I decided to take her with me to Sunagakure and possibly get some training in but she slipped away one night and got herself taken by the said group. She infiltrated the camp. I looked for her for weeks and when I finally found she was covered in the enemies blood and smiling at me as all the children celebrated being free. When we got back home she asked Hokage-sama for your file and decided to study up on your clan." Obito explained. Hinata looked to the ground. She couldn't understand why Sakura got a sudden interest in her clan from just one mission. She turned to Obito who was watching Sakura.
"Why did they want the children?" Hinata asked.
"The group was taking their chakra. Most of the kids where from Konoha. Sakura told lord 4th that they were actually hoping to get their hands on you. I think that's why she got so interested in your family." he said still looking at the pink haired girl. Hinata clenched her jaw. An anger washed over her and she couldn't hide it. Her memory took her back to the day she sat helplessly in the closet and watched her mother die all because these people wanted her eyes. "Oi Hinata!" Obito said waving his hand in front of her face. She quickly closed her eyes and let her eyes go back to normal. Her byakugan had activated because she was getting irritated.
"Sorry... Uh I just had to calm down.." she said touching her forehead and thinking happy thoughts.
"You know Hinata.... Pinky really wanted to train with you. She studied all those books and trained night and day so that one day she could fight with you." Obito said looking at the girl as leaned over the side of the boat and looked at her reflection on the water below her. Hinata looked at her as well.
"When you get home I will show her what a Hyuga cab do." she said simply. A smile appeared on the Uchiha's face. He looked at Hinata out of the corner of his eyes and saw her smiling. He could tell she too wanted to train with Sakura. The smile on her face tells it all. He also knew Sakura would be more then happy to except this challenge and show Hinata what she had to offer as a teammate and future shinobi. The thing he was uncertain about was how Hinata would do in the fight. He knew she has potential but he had never seen her train before.
"Sensei!!! Hinata-chan!! Look!" Sakura yelled breaking Obito's thoughts. He looked at her as she jumped up and down pointing at the land that was slightly visible off in the distance.
"Wow its so misty I couldn't even see it before. Its so close now!" Hinata said walking to Sakura. Obito trailed behind her and stood behind his students. The other passengers started to come up and look at the land not to far from the boat. Hinata's eyes lit up as she looked at it. She was excited and couldn't hide it. She started to jump up and down like her friend did before. "Can you believe it Sakura! I'm finally gonna see an other village besides Konoha!" she said dancing around happily. Sakura joined in to the mini dance session as Obito watched them. He loved his students but sometimes they could be..... Interesting?.... He silently laughed at the dancing girls but felt like they were being watched. He turned in the direction he thought the person was but there was no one there. He shrugged it off thinking it must be the people coming up from the bunks looking at him weird because he's a hidden leaf shinobi going to Kirigakure and also has to dancing girls with him.
"Okay lets get ready to get off." Obito said grabbing his bag. Hinata smiled and grabbed her backpack and slipping it on. Sakura on the other hand didn't move she just watched the shore get closer and closer.
"Oi Sakura! Did you hear me?" Obito said.
"Hai Sensei. My bag is by my feet." she said in a bored tone. Obito's eye twitched as he looked at the girl. She always got like this but only to get a reaction from her sensei.
"Its okay Uchiha-san... At least she didn't lose her bag right?" Hinata said. He looked down at the girl. Her pale eyes soft and generally calming. He smiled at her and nodded.
"Alright people listen up!" a man said coming into the group of people. "We are just about to come to our destination! Kirigakure! Hope you had a great voyage!"
