Olivia's POV
Waiting, watching, anticipating every single move I'm going to make. Well, that's what I would be doing if I actually cared but I don't cuz nobody's gonna tell me what to do or how to act and that goes for this crazy country lady as well.
It's been hours already and we're still waiting for her to come back. Dallas runs in suddenly and alerts Hailey and I that they are just down the road.
Surprisingly, my heart kinda sinks, but I shrug the feeling off. Hailey slaps her brown hat on my head which I threw off earlier.
"Act natural, and no matter what, do not and mean do not roll your eyes at anything she says and no rude or sassy remarks, do you understand me? ", Hailey growls.
Before I could answer, the door flies open and I meet... her. She looks like she was pulled out of the wild west. Dressed in her pinafore similar to the one I had on, but with a more rugged exterior. She was chewing on one end of a piece of barely and of course had a hat on. Man, what is it with these country people and hats.
Breaking my thoughts was the strongest western accent I've ever heard. "Hailey, Dallas, my cutie pies, how y'all doing?"
"We're mighty fine aunt, how's your day been?"
"I'm as happy as a dog that found a big fat bone".
Well this is awkward, she doesn't notice me at all, but that's a good thing, right.
"And who do we have here". Uh oh, looks like I spoke too soon.
Aunt Tracy, thankfully answers for me, "This is Olivia, my niece".
"Oh dear!, you don't mean... ", she's cut off as aunt Tracy nods her head. I guess she knows my story then.
Her eyes are filled with pity as she looks at me before continuing "Nice to meet you, honey. How are you enjoying your stay here? "
"Fine", I nearly choke out cuz that's a big lie.
"OK, so I got surprises for everyone. Who wants to go first", she says and I'm glad her attention isn't directly on me anymore.
"Oh me, I love surprises", Dallas says.
She pulls out a gift box and hands it to him. Next, she gives Hailey a small square box and she pulls out a matching colored boot.
"Thanks aunt". Time passed by as she gave everyone their gifts. She even gave me a bracelet, though not what I would usually wear but nice anyways.
Some time passed by and I was getting super tired, plus this is getting super awkward just sitting here while they discussed about God know what cuz I didn't understand half the gibberish they were talking about. Well, to be honest I wasn't really paying attention but, does it really make a difference?
I'm sooo tired. I...wait why is everyone staring at me, I realize that as the whole room just goes quiet. No, I just said that aloud, didn't I? Well, how peachy.
"Um, I gotta go... do something", I excuse myself from the awkwardness and head to the kitchen, ignoring the stares I'm getting.
I open the cabinet and I see what I haven't seen in forever. My favourite cereal, coco pops sitting there in its magnificence waiting to be devoured.
It's so beautiful, I could almost cry.But no time to waste, I grab the box, with a large deep plate and a bottle of water and milk. I head up the stairs quietly and close my room door behind me.
Finally, real food.
Sitting on the corner of the bed, I rip open the carton on pour myself a full bowl of deliciousness, forgetting all my misery and drowning myself in the taste of pure wonder. Yeah, it's a bit overboard but I just love all things chocolate.
