1997.

''Minerva..."

Albus was sitting on his chair staring at one of the walls of his office, his weary eyes were full of tears.

''Fawkes... This is my fault... I-I did this..."

The bird turned around and looked at him. His dark eyes were full of tears as well.

"Fawkes... Please don't..." The bird didn't listen and started singing a really sad song as he flew towards Albus. The old man shuddered when the phoenix settled on his shoulder "Oh friend..." he sighed patting his head "What have I done?"

Tears were falling down his old wrinkled cheeks. The bird kept watching him; it glanced down at his lap and observed the mobile picture that the man had in his hands. He started singing again as soon as he saw Minerva's face next to Albus'.

He felt terribly saddened by the headmaster's lost.

"I know... I know." Albus whispered "Please try to calm down, Fawkes..." The bird looked at him again "I don't want to feel even worse... I've lost Minerva... It is my fault and I can't do anything to change it..."

The man observed the picture again and sobbed. He had loved Minerva for nearly forty years by now and he never had the nerve to reveal his feelings. Now she was gone. The woman he loved was dead, resting beneath the ground in a grave, and he couldn't do anything but cry and remember their best memories together.

"I had many opportunities, Fawkes..." He cried. The fenix cried with him "Many chances... And now she's gone... because of my own foolishness..." He remembered her voice and her laugh. His heart cringed as the bird sang again "Fawkes..." he whispered "What have I done?"

Albus' memories.

1959.

"Alright... Fawkes, it's time, we have to do this..." the bird looked at him, its eyes half-closed "Come on, I really want to do it! I'm going to, you'll see, I just have to—"

"Albus?" He heard her voice behind the door's office. 'Oh, great!' He thought, 'she knows my password... I forgot that.' His legs quickly became jelly when he heard her voice again. He shuddered and dropped the rose he had for her in his hands. Fawkes shook his head as his master picked the flower up from the floor.

"I-I..." The young headmaster looked at Fawkes. The bird sighed and turned around. "Okay..." he sighed "I can do this." And then he dared to open the door.

"Hello, professor D— eh, I mean... Headmaster." Her light smile melted his heart away. He gave her a nod amazed as he stared at her.

"Minerva..." His expression made her laugh. That was a special night, so the new Transfigurations professor had decided to change her normal teaching robes for a stunning outfit.

She was wearing a bright emerald long dress, which made her eyes stand out; plus her dark hair wasn't tied up as it always used to be, it was laying majestically on her back and shoulders. The young professor McGonagall didn't have any make up on and wasn't wearing marvelous jewelry either; she was prepared for a simple school ball, but, still, for Albus she was absolutely perfect. Minerva was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
